My wife and I had the most bizarre customer service experience at Coriander Kitchen tonight. We've eaten here several times and the food is good. 3 stars 🌟. The beef korma is my favorite dish. No major complaints with the food it is mid tier Indian cuisine. Hits the spot. Our problem was with the cook/ cashier. His customer service was confusing & bizarre.
We went in to place a takeout order in person. This isn't a dine in establishment. We are aware of that. We were going to eat our food in the amphitheater overlooking Georgian Bay. Romantic right? The cook had other plans... it was about 515 pm right before dinner rush. I told him "I'd like to place an order". He said "you'll have to wait". I said " I understand it will take time to cook our order". He said "No. You must wait outside 10 minutes. I'm going outside for a break." I said "Cool. Take a break. We'll wait for you. We're not in a rush". He peaced out to the back of the kitchen for his impromptu break.
We went outside dumbfounded. I went and got two colas & we had a smoke. We were hungry & a bit confused as to why he didn't take our order right away. It was a very odd interaction. But everyone deserves a break. So we let it slide. The time is now 5:25 pm. We went back in to place our order.
He seen us come in. My wife sat down in a waiting area chair. He lurked in the back for two minutes. There was a bell on the counter. I almost rung it. Then he walked up looking pretty deadpan & unenthusiastic. I said " I'll place an order now please". He said "No. You have to call it in." He points at a phone # on the menu. I was puzzled & said "Huh?"
My wife said "that's enough of this let's go somewhere else". He could have let us know to phone it in while we waited outside for ten minutes. Waste of our time. There may have been a language barrier. But his English sounded pretty good. It was an extremely poor customer service interaction and it seemed he wasn't into making food that day or dealing with customers in the slightest.
It left a bad taste in our mouths and we didn't even eat there this time. We will not be returning for that type of rude & unenthusiastic service. Try Curry & Cocktails in Wasaga Beach. They are miles ahead of Coriander Kitchen in customer service and food quality. You'll thank...
Read moreIf there was an option to put 0 stars, I would. The most pathetic food I’ve had in 22 years of my life. We ordered on call, the guy asked me to hold when i asked for the total and instead of keeping me on hold he hung up the call on me. When I called back he said the call got disconnected so i didn’t mind much. He couldn’t keep a track of order, I feel I repeated the entire order 7-8 times but he still kept forgetting shit. We ordered the food for delivery he took 15 mins just to tell if he could deliver or not. Does that make sense? And then the food- I HAVE NO WORDS FOR IT. I have never in my entire life felt that I wasted so much money on food. I actually was about to throw everything in the trash upon tasting the first bite. I found about 5-6 strands of hair in each dish. EACH. It seems like the chef or any other person working in that restaurant for that matter has no taste buds. I’d rather have eaten a piece of bread than eat what clearly tasted like 2-3 days old food. Unhygienic, tasteless, incorrect, inaccurate, 40+ minute wait time, 0 humanity and no manners at all about how to communicate with the other person.
If I am taking such a long time to write this review just imagine how bad the food would actually be to get me this upset at them.
Never ever make the mistake of ordering food from them. Please reconsider and if you don’t have any choice, I would suggest you stay on an empty stomach rather than eating their...
Read moreToo expensive, simple as that. I ordered the Royal Butter chicken, and garlic naan. (Personally I think all curries should come with naan, or at least the option between rice and naan but I digress) I got take out, the girl at the front was ok, she was just doing her job I can’t blame her for that. I ordered my food and she told me 10 mins, I came back 15 mins later and it wasn’t ready - no biggy. For the next 10 min all I heard was bickering in the back, wasn’t English so I don’t know what about but I know bickering when I hear it. All in all finally got my butter chicken and took it home. The chicken was moist I’ll give it that, but lacked anything resembling flavour, a little S&P goes a long way, but realistically it being Indian I’d expect for than just S&P but they didn’t even use that. Biggest let down was the sauce, it was sweet…like very sweet, I don’t mind sweet but this was over the top. Bit runny for my liking but that’s just me being picky. It just…didn’t hit the spot, and I’d been hankering for some butter chicken for weeks. The naan was alright, nothing to praise or whine. Anyways, if I got like half the portion for half the price, I’d add more stars. But 23$ for something that’ll take me days to eat, if I chose to eat it -...
