Over the past year, we’ve had the pleasure of ordering from HFC Grill, a Persian restaurant located at 1064 Austin Avenue in Coquitlam, BC. Their Chicken Koobideh Kebabs have become a household favorite, consistently delivering a delightful culinary experience.

The Chicken Koobideh Kebabs feature two skewers of ground chicken, perfectly seasoned and grilled to juicy perfection. Each order is accompanied by fragrant basmati rice and a grilled tomato, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that never fails to satisfy. The portion sizes are generous, offering excellent value at $16.95 per serving.

Beyond the kebabs, HFC Grill offers a diverse menu that includes other Persian and Afghan specialties, as well as a selection of cheese pizzas. Notably, their cheese pizza stands out with its perfectly baked crust, rich tomato sauce, and generous layers of gooey, melted cheese—providing a delightful comfort food option that complements their traditional offerings.

The restaurant’s commitment to quality is evident in every dish. Ingredients are fresh, and the flavors are authentic, reflecting the rich culinary traditions of Persian and Afghan cuisine. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant experience with each order.

In addition to their dine-in and takeout options, HFC Grill offers catering services, making it a versatile choice for various dining needs.

Overall, HFC Grill has become a staple in our dining routine, offering consistently delicious food and excellent service. We highly recommend their Chicken Koobideh Kebabs and look forward to exploring more of their menu in the...

I give this place a 5 star only because I can't rate it any higher than that. HFC grill, which we discovered by accident when we moved to the area not long ago is located on the south west corner of Marmot and Austin in Coquitlam. This truly is a gem of an eatery. Call it a hole on the wall, the smallest place, or however you want to describe it...I call it the best Persian food south of North Van. The best!!! Their Vaziri is amazing!!! It is one of our favorite dishes. The seating space is very limited, however, most orders are pick up so there is always a place to sit and enjoy your meal. There is a cooler filled with a variety of beverages, traditional ones also in case you want the complete Persian experience. The owners are a very friendly couple, together with their children they truly make you feel at home. Maliha is a sweetheart who welcomes you with a smile and treats you like family...it is after all a family owned and operated business...which means hard working folks who are trying their best to make a name for themselves with their delicious menu. Servings are huge for the money...accompanied with grilled tomatoes, grilled hot chili pepper, lemon slices, pickled pepper and condiments on the table including the ever delicious spices of Sumac. Give this small business a try...won't regret it. You will get to know Maliha and her family because once you try their food, you will...

In short, the prices are reasonable, the pizza is excellent and the customer service is delightful. However, this place is deserving of a longer review, so I'll leave one below.

I have eaten pizza from dozens of independents and large scale franchises. Needless to say, great pizza places are few and far in between. A friend of mine turned me on to Florence pizza one night, saying that he judged all pizza places based on the quality of their BBQ chicken pizza, and that theirs was good. That struck a chord with me, I laughed and agreed with his method of determining quality. (No, really. As a BBQ chicken fan - I find this to be very telling to the quality of the rest of the menu items).

So we ordered a couple of BBQ chicken and a beef Donair pizzas.

The owner delivered the pizzas personally and the customer service was delightful both over the phone and upon delivery (quite accommodating with call upon arrival requests etc).

My first slice of BBQ chicken was awesome. I figured my friend had found a surprisingly decent pizza place with excellent service and reasonable prices. Not bad, I thought.

Then I tried a slice of the Donair pizza... Words cannot describe the heavenly rapture bestowed upon me. I'm pretty sure I had an out of body experience.

I can't speak to the rest of the menu items, but the pizza is fantastic. I don't think I'll be ordering pizza from anywhere else...

5 Stars - delicious Kabab and rice This place serves the best halal Persian kebab cuisine in town! The food was incredibly fresh and flavorful. We tried a variety of kebabs, including lamb, beef, chicken, and the lamb shank, and everything was juicy, tender, and absolutely delicious. The Qabli rice and white rice were standout dishes—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Although the seating area is small, the quality and taste of the food make it well worth the visit. Prices are very reasonable for the generous portion sizes. To top off our meal, we enjoyed their refreshing saffron tea, which was the perfect ending. A big shoutout to the lady who served us—she was so polite, kind, and attentive, making our experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back soon. Highly recommended for anyone looking for amazing Persian food.

I ordered a lamb barg kebab, but they served me bakhtiari lamb instead. To their credit, they managed to remove the gamey taste remarkably well—but personally, I prefer lamb with a slight gaminess. The quality of the meat was mediocre. The chicken was overcooked, and the portion size was absurdly large. What really bothered me was their attitude. It felt like they deliberately gave me the wrong dish. First, they didn’t allow me to pay upfront. Second, they didn’t treat me the way they would a first-time customer—it was as if they had done this before. All in all, this was my first and last visit. Paying $35.65 for a rice dish is just ridiculous, especially when I only wanted the $23.95 option.
