You can find me here at least once a week because Battery Park is the quantum between a rarified atmosphere of culinary adventure and a boozy relaxed neighborhood watering hole where everybody knows your name!

When you're hungry, this is a joint that creates their own preserves and charcuterie in-house while also making the best fries you've ever had. When you're thirsty, this is a place you can relax while casually drinking the weirdest and most lovingly crafted beers coming out of these eastern sharrrr's. Sometimes it's the first and last place you can enjoy this or that one-off experiment.

After eating and drinking here a dozen times, I don't feel the need to go into specifics about what I've eaten and what I've had to drink, and it probably wouldn't be of much guidance since the preserves and charcuterie program are constantly evolving and there have been weeks where I return after a seven-day hiatus to find only two or three taps are pouring the same brew as last week. Whether you are the fries type or you prefer the complexity of a pickled ground cherry, you can find what you need here.

And another thing: I honestly can't think of another place doing farm-to-table so approachably. They do the whole localvore thing like it's the most quotidian obvious way for a restaurant to operate (as it should be!). While it's true every beer at Battery Park is brewed in Nova Scotia and the vast majority of what is coming out of the kitchen was grown or raised by someone in Nova Scotia, they don't rest on those laurels alone, nor do they browbeat you with philosophical missives. It's 2017, does anyone still need convincing that local product almost always tastes fresher, more loved, more delicious? Battery Park does mostly local simply because it makes sense. You can taste the community and the terroir when you're here. It feels like you're playing your part in a whole community of producers as the diner who sits gleefully at the end of the table. Maybe that's why it's not uncommon to find yourself sitting next to the very guy who brewed your beer. It's just a cool place.

If you want a neighborhood bar but your palate and intelligence demand a Bourdainian base-level of culinary respect, you can be proud of Battery Park, not just for Dartmouth but for the province as a whole.

Please feel free to use our crew's nicknames for this place: Buttery Pork,...

Went with my wife and loved the food. She's vegetarian and got the beet burger, said it was among the best burgers she's had; I gave it a bite and it was quite good! Her burger came with fries and they were really good, though some might consider them a bit over-salted, but we both liked the salt level. Crispy and tasty.

For myself I had the classic burger and instead of a side I got the Brussel sprouts appetizer. Both were delicious! The burgers we had both had lightly toasted buns which was great for the overall texture. On mine the pickles were cut pretty thin, as the lettuce was also sparse, but that's great - the additions didn't take away from the nicely sized burger patty. The sauce was a tasty Dijon mustard any mayo mix. The Brussel sprout side was excellent, it had a very lightly spicy oil and really nice crunchy bits (pomegranate seeds, I think), and was...

Came here with some friends. The food was good, the food was really really good! I had the fish tacos and fries. I always get friend when a place does their own fries. Cuts and cooks them in house. A+.

All of my friends had an alcoholic beverage, and they were all extremely satisfied. I was DD so I didn't try any of their alcoholic beverages, but I did I did try the coffee. I know it's not what people are frequenting this establishment for, but the coffee was bad. I mean the machine probably hasn't been cleaned in a month bad. I mean, run down the road and grab me a cup of hotel lobby coffee or corner store coffee instead bad. I'll opt for hot water with lemon instead next time.

tl;dr: Amazing food, wicked alcoholic drink selections, terrible coffee.

Definitely check this place out. Grab a bite. Get a drink, just don't...

Fine selection of great beer on tap and some cider. The service was a little bit slow but we were there on a Saturday night and it was fairly busy. We had a couple of taster flights with different beers before deciding which to have a full pint of. We ordered the smorgasbord which is basically a small charcuterie plate, not much there for $20, it had half an egg which was supposedly a quail egg according to the server, but was most definitely not a quail egg. The sourdough bread was toasted way too dry and hard to be enjoyable. The fish taco was delicious but miniscule. When we were ready to pay the bills were mixed up, with some of us being charged for beer we didn't drink. All in all, not a bad experience, but if I go back it will not be during peak hours.

Amazing food, and a great beer selection. The vegetarian/vegan burger was incredible. Well cooked, amazing flavours, and served on a focaccia bread bun, with a mountain of, upgraded for a loonie, spiced (not spicy), thin fries, and a Chipotle style mayo. Only comment to the chef would be to let the greenery in the bun acclimatise to room temperature or at least warmer than it was because at one point I had to check if the burger was hot as it had lost temperature from contact with the thicker parts of the cold salad. Fantastic service; knowledgeable on the food and drinks menus, attentive but not crowding, and the place was clean in appearance, smell, and decor. Compliments to everyone involved.

Every now and then you fined a place that blows your mind. This place is special. If you find yourself in Dartmouth you must stop here. You get a feel right away when you walk in that your home not only with food but beer. Then you are greeted by staff that are super nice and kind. They stop to chat they make sure everything is to your liking. So many beers to choose from. 20 micro brews on the list. Then the food came. Oh My the food. So freakin delicious 😋. And at a fair price. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you are visiting Halifax just take the ferry over it's a short walk from the dock. You will not be disappointed here my friend. Come check it out. Smash Burger. 🤤😋🤤
