핼리팩스에서 Dirty Blonde를 많이 마셨지만 여기서 만드는줄 몰랐네요. 지나가다 발견한 멋진 건물.. 여러명이 모여 마시기 좋은 장소. Official site.. Nine Locks Brewing Co. began like many of today’s larger craft beer companies, with a small brewpub making great beer. Shaun O’Hearn, president and co-founder of Nine Locks Brewing Company, was a restaurateur for years before he discovered craft beer, but when he did he loved it so much he built a brewpub under his Halifax landmark pub and eatery, Your Father’s Moustache. Before long, the craft beers they were brewing were so popular, fans of his beer were telling him that he should package it to sell in local beer stores. Unfortunately, his liquor license only allowed him to sell his beer in the restaurant. After hearing this repeatedly, Shaun decided that it would be a good idea to take the beer to the next level.

One night in the summer of 2014, Shaun and Danny (O’Hearn), his cousin and next door neighbor, were having a few craft beers around the backyard fire talking about beer and how Nova Scotia needed more great micro breweries. Soon, they started talking about how great it would be to open a full-fledged microbrewery and use the proven recipes from the brewpub to produce the same great beer on a larger scale. Like many talks around a fire on a warm summer night, the more they drank, the more it sounded like a great idea! When they both woke up the next morning (late morning), the late night discussions came back to them and it really didn’t sound like crazy talk. Soon, discussions turned into planning, and then that turned into securing a location, and before they knew it, they were...

Nine Locks Brewing is a total gem in Dartmouth: it's one of those places that just feels right from the moment you walk in. The building is beautiful and welcoming, with plenty of comfy seating indoors and a fantastic outdoor setup that makes it perfect for sunny days or crisp evenings.

What really stood out to me was the kindness and warmth of the staff. They were genuinely friendly, patient with questions, and clearly proud of what they’ve built. Their recommendations felt right on the money.

The outdoor space is such a treat: lots of room, good flow, and a relaxed vibe. Plus, plenty of lovely accoutrements for doggies. Inside, the space is solid too: tasteful finishes, comfortable seating, and a layout that keeps things open without feeling sprawling.

And of course: the beer is excellent (after all, that’s what brings you there). But even beyond the beverages, the atmosphere, service, and setting make Nine Locks a place I want to come back to in the future. Highly recommended if you’re in Dartmouth and looking for great craft beer in a place that...

Wow. What an amazing place. We came here after I randomly purchased some of their Dirty Blonde beer from the grocery store. I never realized the variety of delicious and full-bodied beers this brewery has to offer. Natalie and John made us feel right at home and helped us decided which beers to try. They were incredible hosts and we really enjoyed talking with them. Thank you both (and Nine Locks Brewing) for a memorable evening. Btw, my offer still stands, if you want to give us a few cases of your beer, when we cross back into the States, we'll make sure they are properly...

They have moved a few yards up the road into brand new premises, what an improvement! A large retail area including takeout beer, a tasting bar, growler refills and a full bar with table service. Plus a nice patio. They don't sell food but they have chips and snacks, and you can bring your own food in or get it delivered while you drink. Such a superb expansion of their business, this is now a go-to place and you can combine it with a food visit to the MicMac Tavern too (which also sells a lot of Nine Locks beer!)
