Long Shot's Sports Cafe — Restaurant in Deep River

I ate here last year, well on my way to Ottawa. I was so pleased with my meal that I had to meet the cooks. I had the fish, and if I remember correctly, it came with these absolutely heavenly sautéed carrots. My only disappointment with the meal was the portion of carrots—I wanted more! And that fish—so light with the perfect amount of crisp, and the flavor—wow! I think I got mash with it—a strange combination with fish, I know, but I love a good mash. 😋 Hands down the best roadside fish, period! 👌 🙌 💯 I will be coming back for that fish. As for the atmosphere, keep it the same. It just screams local hangout memories and good times. The pool table at the back was neat to see. I wish I had had time. The bartender at the time was wonderful as well. She kept up the conversation as I had inquired about the place and its history as well as the artistic guitars on the wall made out of wood from the Ottawa River. I would recommend it 10/10. 👌 Top-notch. I remember the dish well.

I should add the fish that I had was not battered; it was lightly dusted with a seasoning similar to panko breading. I have no idea what it was seasoned with, but it was good. Haha, that is all for now....

Sat down and got our drinks served within 15mins 👌. Orders were taken after 30mins or so 🤷‍♂️. Three groups came in after us, 15-45mins later and were served before us🤔. One of these groups had finished their meals before we were 🤔even served ours👎. 2 of our meals came together after 1h30min roughly and the other 2 came 15minutes later so we didn't eat together.

The food wasn't bad. We were told that we came at the end of the big lunch rush which I understand completely. What i don't understand is why these groups that came in after us had been served before us. We were there for 2h15min.

Obviously we expect to be treated fairly but this wasn't quite that. In the future, if we decide to come here again, we will have to carefully pick a time where...

Two stars.. Was thoroughly unimpressed. Our server was great but there's no making up for a bad kitchen. Even though the wait for our food garnered an apology from the server, when it arrived, the pickerel dish was burned and the chicken in the caesar salad tasted like canned chicken. The BLT sandwich was above average.

UPDATE: Visited again recently and had the chicken wrap with green salad. The wrap was very tasty and had delicious breaded chicken. The salad was cold, ...
