Bistro Peekaboo Sushi — Restaurant in Delta

I called in for take out, was told it was a 40 minute wait. On a Friday at 7:15? Okay, good with that, I get it. I then went for pick up 45 mins later, paid my bill, stood waiting for another 30mins and still no food. I was offered a glass of water while I waited with about 6-8 other frustrated people, I declined the water and asked how long before my order was ready. I was told it was almost ready. Almost 10 minutes later, out of frustration I ask for a refund. The server tells me she can't refund my money and needs the manager. The manager who was cooking comes, offers no apology or explanation whatsoever, and silently processes a refund (that didn't include my tip) in the greasy gloves he had been cooking in. I'm sorry, I'm all about supporting local but this was the worst restaurant experience in my 50+ years of living here. I hope they find a way to improve, I chose Peekaboo over Toto (my favorite) tonight to give them a chance but clearly a mistake. And to be fair, they did correct the miss on refunding my tip and paid me cash, but pre-Covid, right or wrong I rarely tipped on a take out/pick up...

Years ago, when people kept telling me about this place, I had trouble finding it. If you get lost, first locate the BC Liquor Store in Tsawwassen and then look across the courtyard. It is a cozy little place, decorated with beautiful architectural drawings and usually playing jazz. The meals are always presented artfully. Personally, I like the creative fusion dishes; just like in many restaurants in Japan. The service is consistently excellent, and I often notice the chefs behind the counter taking time to chat with the clients. My son especially appreciates the vegetarian rolls; very few places combine all his favourites of avocado, cucumber, AND sweet potato...

I ordered takeout from here. This was my first time trying oyakodon, then I also ordered the chef special sushi, which was a surprise. The staff was welcoming and the order was very fast, 20 minutes. The employee was also mindful to ask if I would like chopsticks. Every bite was a flavor sensation! The oyakodon chicken was so soft and there was a savory sauce with tasty onions and egg. The sushi was incredible! I was fully prepared to expect to maybe not like it. I wish I could know what it was exactly, because it was a great flavor I'll never forget. Both dishes were very filling and satisfying. Will definitely come back again and recommend...
