The food is really good, so I won’t say “I’ll never go back,” because that would be untruthful and over dramatic - however, we had an experience yesterday that led us to decide we will never go back to eat inside the restaurant (take out only).
We had a reservation for last night at 5:30, we were told that we couldn’t order our food ahead of our reservation, so we got there and immediately placed out order. We were there with 2 young children. We were in the restaurant for TWO HOURS, and all that came was just 2 curries (7 people all ordered food), 2 people from our party actually had to leave before anything came because of prior engagements that they SHOULD have had enough time for. At the end of two hours, I asked at the counter if the food was coming because if not we were leaving, to be told they were JUST making it.
After this, I will never go and eat inside the restaurant, I’ll still buy food from there because it is delicious, but when you keep killing your “in restaurant” business, the people picking up take out aren’t tipping. You either need to reduce the amount of tables inside the restaurant to 2 or 3; or eliminate them entirely and focus on people in the restaurant.
OR don’t allow takeout orders until after peak 6:30/7; that way you force people to come to the restaurant, and they give you more money.
But something has to give, in a small town like Tsawwassen; experiences like we just had can kill a business, and it would be terrible to lose another local business over something so changeable
Edited to add: Since my initial review, they have implemented a “no in restaurant seating for dinner time” policy and I think it’s great. The food that they serve is truly amazing, and the owners really care about the people going to the restaurant. It’s a shame that there just isn’t enough people to staff the restaurant but at least they are taking the steps to ensure that their business can be successful and amazing. I’ve never been disappointed with the food from here, and the service is great, but with short staffing in a the kitchen, no amount of amazing service could offset the wait. I hope that they are able to find someone who is trainable that is able to assist in the kitchen so that they can increase their business and fulfill the potential that is...
Read moreWell after hearing some pretty good reviews from friends, I decided to try this place out. I especially love Thai food. Unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. I ordered the Thai vermicelli pasta with shrimp(medium spicy) and my girlfriend ordered the green curry. My salad was basically bathing in vinegar, and it was extra spicy. However, I tried the green curry, and it was nice. Great flavour, and perfect spicy heat. If I go back, I'll probably order that. But it doesn't end there. The service was laughable. It wasn't even busy, and it took a good 15 minutes before the waitress came over to take our order, and also never asked us what we wanted to drink so we only had water. They served my girlfriend first but my plate didn't come out for another 5 minutes at least. Not only that, but we asked for the wine list and I ended up having to come up myself to get it, halfway through the meal. Not once did anyone come to our table to see if everything was ok. Looking at the reviews and hearing from word of mouth, I understand that this seems to be a common theme among customers. Positive notes: green curry was great, well-priced (with the exception of the wine that we never did get to order). Sorry Thai-Isaan, just one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had since back in...
Read moreI was driving along 56, because apparently it's their main strip. We noticed a Thai place, the only Thai place around this area. So we parked and decided to give it a gamble.
Parking is ever convenient in this plaza. The host and owner greeted us. He's a very kind gentleman. He mentioned he was Thai and that his wife is the cook in the kitchen.
We asked for recommendations because it was our first time. He said you must try the pad thai. The plate is very big and can feed two people. He then mention the red curry with rice. We agreed.
I kid you not this place is a hidden gem for the best pad thai in tawassen. In fact I think it's the best pad thai we had so far in BC. If you love spice like us, get it spicy like "Thai spicy." The sauce in this dish was amazing. Tomato, tamarind, oyster sauce. I really think the wife had another secret ingredient in this dish.
We then tried the red curry. You have a choice of beef, chicken, pork, prawn, tofu. We decided on beef. I loved every bite of this dish that in the end I licked the bowl clean! I didn't care who was looking. It was so flavorful and aromatic. Just intoxicating. The bamboo shoots had a nice crunch. The coconut wasn't over powering. Would we come...
