The portions were really good, both times we visited we thought the portions looked tiny but by the time we finished, we were stuffed!
First visit: We ordered potato chowder (okay, not worth $14 though), Argentine shrimp pasta (LOVE IT, 100% worth every cent of the $31 dish, the shrimp wasn't fishy and was full of meat, the pasta was delicious), and fish and chips (really nice in general, the truffle fries were awesome).
The atmosphere is okay, with really nice views if you are in the right spot. Here and there we heard kids running around and screaming (understandable but still slightly annoying) and somehow they played gangnam style in the middle of the meal XD (thought that was funny). I would give it a 5 if it wasn't for the kids screaming, that's all.
The service in general is okay, but our meal took a really long time and our server didn't check up on us (but checked up on everyone else, and mind you, it wasn't really busy or anything). Eventually, another server came to pop in to say hello. However, the service is still within expected range, as the food was still brought up warm and neatly placed.
Second visit: I definitely had different thoughts from the first visit. We were greeted with a friendly server (with a blonde ponytail, sorry forgot to ask for name) and assigned to a table. Then, we looked at menus. We looked at our orders, and our assigned server, Reuben (unsure how to spell, sorry) was really busy with at least 2 tables, but considering this is a middle-class restaurant, I expected to be checked up on maybe in around 5 mins to take our order. Unfortunately, that was not what happened. We waited and waited, and nobody bothered to take a look at us (at the point our group was just looking bored and doing nothing), until we couldn't stand it anymore and flagged a server down. 3-5 mins later our server came down to take our order after being requested from another server we flagged down. We then waited almost an hour for our dishes to get ready (3 dishes) and the food itself is pretty good. Then nobody checked in on us for the next 40 min-ish and we had to flag another server down to ask for dessert (we didn't order it initially), then waited another 3 min for our server to take our order, THEN we waited almost half an hour for 1 carrot cake (14 dollars!). In general, I wasn't too pleased with the service in general (Not completely server's fault, they need more staff, this isn't a cheap restaurant, they need...
Read moreThe restaurant has a nice setup and ambience, menu items seem really great and unfortunately we didn't get to try. We left angry after being ignored for 5 times. Went with 2 small children, and was brought to be seated in one of the high top bar tables. I asked for another table and they were accommodating, cleaned another table for us right away. And then our waiter, after we ask him to give us some water first, had begun to neglecting us. We had 2 hungry small children and we really just wanted to order their food first thing, but over and over again, our waiter swing by and said "I'll be with you in a minute", while our kids started to get impatient and make more noise. It was embarrassing as we didn't want to disturb the other patrons. If we could have ordered kids food, one of us could have taken the kids to the outdoor dining area and distracted them a little. After kept being ignored and watching our waiter going to 4 different other tables (some were seated after us but was getting taken care of while we were being ignored), after we were told "I'll be with you in a minute" for the 4th time, we stood up and left. It was very unpleasant. Though it was a nice feature this restaurant is located in the resort and it's convenient for us, this is our by far the WORST feeling we got from the staff. We felt neglected and unwelcomed. If we weren't welcomed with small children, please don't offer kids menu and don't claim to be child friendly when everything they did were...
Read moreWe stayed at Deerhurst for our mini-honeymoon recently. We decided one night to go to one of their restaurants for dinner, more of a matter of convenience than anything else…we were surprised as to how nice of an evening we had.
Our server Ricardo was amazing and he should be recognized for navigating us through an amazing dinner. We began with the Pork Belly and Burrata, and The Bavarian Pretzel Antipasto…both were unique in a perfect way.
For the mains we had the Chicken Ballotine Caprese for the lady, and I had the Maple Roasted Wild Boar Tenderloin. The chicken was a great earthy delight and the boar was cooked exactly as I asked. Ricardo recommended a perfect Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc that paired perfectly with the meal.
For dessert we shared a the Deerhurst S’mores and a couple coffees. My wife said it was one of the best cappuccinos she has ever had.
A great...
