I have to admit Sushi Mori has never been my go-to sushi place, despite it’s in my neighborhood. The reason why it’s never my first choice is because in my experience, the food is always mediocre at best. Two nights ago, I was in a rush and I thought I’d give them another try as opposed to sticking with my favorite sushi spots farther away because I assumed it would be quicker. The order not surprisingly to me, was so-so and included an order of gomaei, which was truly inedible and it went straight to the compost bin. There was hardly any sesame dressing but what was so unpalatable was that it was gritty and it smelled and tasted of soil. The following evening I decided to call them to let them know rather than be hasty and write an unfavorable review. When I explained the reason for my call, I was told there was no manager to take my call and when I asked if I could leave my phone number to get a call back tomorrow, I was told she couldn’t make that happen and I would have to call back. That was obviously very poor customer service especially on top of the experience of food that ended up uneaten. I’m sorry I won’t be supporting this local business going forwards, even when...

I'm not sure what to think. First time we visited when we moved to the area we had a piece of a foreign object in our food (ended up being a fairly large piece of latex glove), but the food was decent.

Second time I visited they didn't have any rice, so I wasn't able to order any of the rolls. No big deal, I ordered some sashimi and noodles that were ok. The noodles were very bland in flavor, but fresh tasting at least.

Then tonight, we had a craving for sushi so we ordered take out. Spent close to $90 on food, asked if we can get a few more packets of soy sauce but they didn't accomdate this request. This irked me quite a bit. As we left a hefty tip wanting to support local businesses.

On top of that, the sashimi did not taste fresh so we didn't eat it, as well as the salmon and avocado roll. Both were very fishy in flavor and dull in colour and texture meaning it was old and not fresh. Also they're "jumbo rolls" aren't that jumbo. 🤷🏽

The pork gyoza was tasty though.

All in all, not a believer in this sushi spot. It's 0-3 for us but it seems others have had better luck.

I guess having a decent sushi spot, that's close in radius is too good to...

Recently moved to the North Shore and thought to try the sushi in my neighborhood.

I love sushi, especially the art of sushi. This sushi looks pretty and did not smell fishy.

Ordered Takeout: Tuna & Salmon Sashimi appetizer, Tuna Maki, Salmon Maki, Oshinko Maki

The Sashimi was tasty, kinda weird cuts on the salmon but overall the Tuna and Salmon were fresh and tasted good. The plating was lovely on the Sashimi.

The soya sauce and white pickled ginger were plentiful. The wasabi, while delectable, was a very small amount. Not enough wasabi for the food ordered, barely enough for the appetizer sashimi.

I ordered 3 kinds of maki. The oshinko was the best one... The salmon and tuna were, off? Strange taste to them. The choo-choo that was used as the filling also has an odd texture to it. These rolls remain un-eaten :/

Perhaps there are other notable items on the menu that I did not try... For me this was mediocre takeout sushi for the...

The Ramen was by far the worst I ever had. The noodles were over cooked and seemed like they were from a cheap source, the pork was cut inro small thick chunks that were not tender but chewy, there were three small pieces of chewy over cooked mushroom, two pieces of tofo which I would recommend against but if it's your thing, I would suggest more than two... The broth was full of oil, only one half egg where the menu photo showed two and it was a regular boiled egg cut in half, not a properly made tea egg. Do NOT go for the Ramen! I know my Ramen! The photo you see was taken before I started eating it, it was the messiest Ramen I have ever been served. And just look at the oil... People who rate these places 5 stars are just trying to justify their own feelings of being ripped off.

This place is absolutely amazing! I can't believe it's not already rated 5 stars! I ordered the spicy salmon sashimi, and it was incredibly fresh! The spicy sauce was just perfect; typically, I don't like it when restaurants serve it on the side, but this one was an exception. The crispy crunchy roll was also perfect. My friends ordered the Tuna Sashimi and the North Vancouver roll, and everyone agreed on the amazing quality! The food was served in a blink! Both the waiter and the chef were so friendly. I would definitely come back again to this amazing local spot. Enjoy your meal there! :)
