Update of my review one year later, Sushi5 has bumped to my #1, and I base this on the level of service, consistency of the quality + quantity of food, and at a fair price point.

Service is outstanding! Staff make an effort to remember you, they’re always friendly, quick to serve, and make sure you have everything you need while you enjoy a meal.

Sushi5 is my first choice when I crave Teriyaki or Udon Soup. The Udon Soup is loaded with thick noodles, broth, a variety of veggies, and meat or tofu. Their broth is by far the best I’ve had in comparison to other sushi places on the North Shore; it’s packed with flavor, yet not too salty. I’ve tried all Teriyaki (beef, chicken, tofu), all are perfectly seasoned, loaded with veggies, rice, meat, and come with miso soup. Their tempura is above average (in my opinion), because it’s a thin batter, so while you enjoy the flavor of the prawns or vegetables, they aren’t heavy or greasy. The quality and quantity is better than many places, which is why I keep coming back!

Special Rolls here are a tad underwhelming, but the basics are delicious and fresh (Veggie Roll, Wild Salmon Roll, Spicy Wild Salmon, Wild Salmon Avocado, Prawn Tempura Crunch Roll).

Atmosphere: clean, inviting, not too loud even when busy, seats are comfy. Even though you’re in a mall, they’ve done a great job of making it not feel that way.

Thank you Sushi5 for making delicious meals and for being so welcoming!

P.S. food here works great as takeout and...

I ordered a veggie tempura roll here today, and found not one but TWO shrimp in the roll. I quietly showed my waitress the shrimp, and explained that I was vegetarian and I was frustrated to find seafood in a vegetarian dish. The waitress showed the chef, who didn't seem to care.

Instead of covering the $10 cost of my meal, or even the $5 cost of the roll, I was given a bill for the veggie roll that contained the shrimp (with a discount of 70 cents). Never mind that they had served me a 'vegetarian' dish with seafood in it.

Most businesses, food service or otherwise, would prefer to build and maintain a long-time customer by making a gesture in good faith to correct a wrongdoing. Not this place. Skip it and go to any other Lynn Valley sushi restaurant -- I recommend Valley Sushi, by the...

This place used to be my top choice in the neighborhood for good sushi, and I’ve been going there for several years. However, it seems they’ve changed management or something, because the food has gotten really bad recently. The new staff are also very rude. I ordered miso soup, and when it arrived, the server’s finger was inside the bowl. When I asked them to change it, they responded with a lot of attitude. The special rolls used to be delicious, but I think they’ve lowered the quality of ingredients to keep prices down. I don’t want to eat bad food, even if...

This place has become my absolute go to for very good food. Whether it is dine in or takeout, I always order the same thing and have not been let down. The staff is amazing and very welcoming. When dining in, the atmosphere is very peaceful and enjoyable. Now to the food! I always order the chicken teriyaki with white rice. This meal comes with miso soup. I also order their yam tempura. As I mentioned before, this has been my go to and hasn't failed me. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. You should definitely stop in and enjoy this gem of a place for yourself.

I’m a huge fan of their creative and flavorful rolls! The House Roll, which features wild salmon, tuna, crab meat, tamago, avocado, cucumber, and is topped with tobiko, is my absolute favorite. I also noticed the Lion King Roll and Pink Tiger Roll on the menu, and I can’t wait to try them next time:) Unfortunately, I found that negitoro roll didn’t have much flavor. It seems like the quality of negitoro itself might not be up to par, or perhaps it wasn’t prepared as well as expected. I hope this is something they can improve in the future!
