2021 November Special date night. Chose Brown's Social House Lynn Valley thinking it was a good spot to sit and eat a delicious meal and catch up. We ordered the Spicy Tuna roll & Crispy Cauliflower to start. The cauliflower was tasty. It was the star of our meal. The tuna roll wasn't great. I would not order that again. For dinner we each settled on a bowl. The Tuna Poke Bowl and the #28 Dragon Bowl with chicken. For desert we shared the Key Lime Pie & Oreo Cheesecake jar. The Tuna Poke Bowl is usually my go-to. I've had it before at various Browns locations and it hadn't disappointed... Until tonight. I'm not sure what it was, but it was a little off. It wasn't as tasty or generously portioned as I've experienced in the past. This was unfortunate. Sadly, I did get I'll later that night. I reached out to the restaurant ocer email and they did express concern and wanted to look into the situation. The Cheesecake was good. Key lime wasn't spectacular. With tip and NO drinks, our meal came to just shy of $100. Not a great value. Unfortunate. Not sure I'll return. ***UPDATE*** 2022 March Despite my previous review I did return with a different date. We went for lunch and shared the Tuna Poke Bowl (I clearly blocked out my last experience) and the Crispy Chicken Tacos. The kitchen kindly plated both dishes in half for us to share. It was nicely presented. We enjoyed both dishes. This may have overturned the previous visit. The restaurant very clean Service friendly Food good.

Brown's in Lynn Valley offers one of the better choices for casual dining east of Lonsdale, a segment of North Vancouver not noted for great dining choices. Our visit was reserved before 5 pm on a Friday. We were seated immediately although the restaurant was busy. Service was friendly and attentive and the menu offers choices that should satisfy all, regardless of thirst or hunger. My only complaint would be about sound. Years ago, an American newspaper began reporting on restaurant noise: "pleasantly quiet, at less than 65 dBA, up to the too-noisy-for-normal-conversation "bomb" at 80-plus dBA. Now, diners are hard-pressed to find restaurants that are under 75." My sound measuring device had Brown's well over75 dBA.

My kid my wife and I were looking for a break From cooking. For the first time since 2020 we have ordered take out . We choose Browns in Lynn Valley. I am an executive chef by trade which explains why we cook home 😉 We decided to order from browns because we have had good experience dining in, in the past. This time though, we ordered take out as we are not ready to be surrounded by people even though we are eager to get back to normal. I ordered a vegan dragon bowl, fish and chips and chicken tenders. I was told 30 minutes so I got there 25 min after to allow time to pay and get fresh cooked food, crispy fish and chips as well as crispy tenders and hot fries!! I paid, the front house was ever so awesome, very helpful and this explains why I gave it a rating of 2.

Food quality: We got home to find everything super soggy super cold and like it was cooked yesterday. The fish was in its own containers sitting on wet coleslaw which meant that the fish absorbed all that mayo and wetness and was very unappealing. Both fries were in their separate container, I would count about 15-20 fries in each containers so a third of the container provided and they were cold and soggy. The chicken tenders were the worst. I couldn’t even give it to my kid and had to cook something else because they were bad, 100% bought and cooked from frozen. I think mcdo has better ones. It is a Shame I cannot attach pictures here to show them. There were two and half tiny tiny flat pale breadcrumbed tenders. The dragon bowl, the flavours were nice yet I could tell it was rushed, brocoli stems as supposed to brocoli and no love. All mixed together like presentation didn’t means anything when taking it out!!!

The yam fries like the fries were cold and soggy.

We were told that they apologized when we called and if it was a bother to warm up everything in the oven which we explained that it defeats the object of wanting to take a break from cooking yet had to! We told them that The timing was wrong which means communication within the front and back is Non existent, they’ve agreed. We were told that a gift card would be ready for us as a sorry yet we do not know the amount as we haven’t been back since. We spent $65. I’m mad I spend that money when the end product is worth -50$ they should have paid me.

My wife had the fish and chip ( I’m the vegan one ) she was sick all night.

All in all, we don’t recommend buying food from there as take out. Dining in yes! Take out is not their business and they do not know how to make it work. I always teach my staff to understand that what you are cooking, someone is paying for it and therefore paying your salary. Show the cooks/ chefs to cook with love and care. There was no love at all from them, we sure didn’t feel any and again please teach your cooks/ chefs that we, the clients are paying their salary.

Value: no value sorry. It was on Canada day. It didn’t help make it a good one let’s put it this way.

I almost went back and returned everything but decided to be nice and cooked my kid a meal and ate what they gave us. I...

September 2025 I wish I could leave a review every time we visit but limited space here. Service and food is ALWAYS great! We want to thank Katelyn and Dylan for an extraordinary experience last night. They both took such great care of us, and we very much enjoyed our conversations and their recommendations! I have been a fan of the Seared Ahi Tuna Crunch, which has been discontinued, and hope that it will come back! In the meantime, I did enjoy the Mandarin Salad with Teriyaki Salmon, and really appreciated the opportunity to try the Cowboy Salad, which I had tried once before and forgot how great it is! I will definitely be having that again. And of course our favourite Calamari with Tartar Sauce and Hubby enjoyed the Big Island Poke. I keep forgetting to take photos before diving in and eating but finally remembering to add a photo of the Seared Ahi Tuna Crunch from a past visit to send out good vibes for it's return! November 2024 My family and I love Browns at Lynn Valley! It was time for my annual checkup at Lynn Valley Optometry and with dilated pupils and unable to drive such a great excuse to have lunch at Browns. I can't write a review for every visit but today I want to give thanks to Rene for her wonderful, friendly service, and to Diego, for going above and beyond for me with friendly, extraordinary service and helpful advice! I have so many favourite dishes there - but lately I have pushed myself to try different things instead of sticking with usual favourites. I have to mention the Seared Ahi Tuna Crunch which I enjoyed last week - the tuna is delicious and the salad alone is so delicious! Today I had The Potato Crusted Cod with Cowboy Salad, Key Lime Pie and then asked for some of the Ahi Tuna Crunch salad to go - a special treat! February 2, 2024 Had a wonderful meal with Hubby tonight - our favourite Calamari to start, Blackened Chicken Fettucine Alfredo and Baja Fish Tacos with Yam Fries. All very yummy and satisfying. The main reason for this review though is to give a special thank you to Slavka for your friendly and wonderful service, taking great care of us on a super-busy Friday night. Thank you so much!! November 2023 I met with a beloved friend for lunch at Browns and I'm ready to order my beloved Dragon Bowl and she asks if I have ever tried the Kung Pao Chicken Lettuce Wraps - oooh we have to try these! So we both ordered those and now have another new favourite - so yummy! My friend and I were having a much needed visit to catch up - life can be so stressful and challenging these days - so much stuff going on in the world (just driving anywhere is stressful!). Well I have to say that we are very grateful that we chose Browns for our lunch that day because between the delicious food and the extraordinary care and service we left feeling happy, positive and recharged! Thank you Katelyn, Sophie, James and the rest of the team at Browns Lynn Valley for a much-needed boost over the last couple of visits! They all remind us of the good and kindness in the world and we...

I went to Browns at a very slow time of night at 930 pm on a Tuesday. Server (young man) came by pretty quickly and explained a couple questions we had.

After ordering we waited quite a while for our food and drinks, about 20 minutes. When we did get our drinks my fiancees was awful and no one checked on us. Dry ribs and wings and soup and salad. After the food was dropped off, we never got our server's attention for the entire remaining time we were there. My fiancee drank her drink anyways after not touching it for half an hour... She would usually have four or five drinks and I would have had another but our glasses stood empty and no one ever asked if we wanted another.

An hour and 10 minutes went by! Before I managed to get the managers attention. She asked what we wanted. The bill please. We would normally have gotten dessert as well butdid not want to wait around anymore. No one table checked how we were or how the food was or if we wanted anything else for 70+ minutes after receiving our service.

No idea why this happened as there was only 2 other tables and 2 customers at the bar . One table of 6-8 looked to be staff members that were in for drinks and got all of the attention of all employees.

It's very unfortunate because I live 2 minutes from this location in Lynn Valley and it's nice to drop on after work sometime, but not worth the time this experience. This is not the first time we've had service like this at browns. It's worth mentioning that if you sit at the bar service with Joey is always good, not in the...
