I had a really disappointing experience here tonight. I ordered a salmon sashimi don — something I regularly get at sushi restaurants and have never had any confusion about. I even pointed directly to the item on the menu to be clear. The server mentioned it might take 15 minutes, which was fine, but just a few minutes later she brought out a hot bowl of salmon teriyaki — definitely not what I ordered or was craving.
I politely let her know, and she seemed to acknowledge the mix-up and went back to fix it. Mistakes happen — no big deal. But then a man (possibly the cook or manager) came out and abruptly insisted I had ordered teriyaki and claimed the server had clarified with me — which she absolutely had not. He spoke over me and didn’t give me a chance to explain. It felt dismissive and unnecessarily confrontational.
Honestly, I just left. I went elsewhere for sushi, where they got my order right with no issue. It’s really not worth arguing with a customer over something so small — is one meal really worth making someone feel unwelcome? I just wanted a quiet dinner. Unfortunately, I...
Read moreI have been a regular customer here and went to dine in as usual tonight. I ordered sake to a very kind Vietnamese server with whom I sometimes have had a nice talk. She knows I always order sake. Then, suddenly, another server came to me and just said in a loud voice 「You look so young!! I need to see your ID.」 Even after I showed her my ID, she kept asking me rudely, what's your name? what year were you born? Where can I see your name on the card? etc. without even just one welcoming comment. It was like police interrogation.
Right after my busy day at work, being starving, it really put me in a bad mood. Sure, server can check my age, I know the strict alchohol rule in B.C. I also have Serving It Right. Server can ask customers' age if it's in a polite manner, but they cannot be rude or insult customer. The fact that server just kept saying 「You look so young.」 in a badly manner, it almost sounded like you are not a grown up woman. Go home little girl. It was insulting, so I just left before I waste more time. I don't feel like eating...
Read moreOk quality and ok prices. Nothing special. We went on a busy Friday night during the Lynn Valley live music concerts and it was packed. The servers were nice and were trying hard but clearly under staffed. Considering this music event is a weekly occurrence during the summer they should expect the volume of people and staff accordingly. I told them twice we hadn’t got an item we ordered and it never came. In total we spent an extra 30 minutes at the table to order, waiting for the dish that never came and to wave down a server to pay. I ended up just walking up to the cashier to pay and the dish we had been waiting for was sitting on the counter. I could see the frustration of many tables in similar scenarios. They could move way more people through and increase their sales if they had the right...
