Stopped by this restaurant on Thursday, Dec.28th at 9:30pm. Ordered inside the restaurant to take out. There was no one in the restaurant & the drive through had 2 orders during this time... I ordered 2 papa burgers "all-dressed", 1-vegie burger "all dressed" & 1 onion rings.
I paid $25.71 and was shocked to see what was in my bag when I arrived home 10 minutes later...
The hamburgers were cold & dried out(probably from sitting on the rack for 7 minutes while the vegie burger was being cooked). This means that the burgers were already pre-cooked & not freshly made. They had 3 slivers of onion, a bath of ketchup, 1 pickle slice & a thinning of mayo... Pretty much aneimic dressing for a $6 burger! Nothing like the picture on the menu board which I ordered from. The onion rings were mostly burned, glued together in clumps & tasted awful! I threw $26 of A&W fast food where it belonged... Into the trash!
After speaking with the night manager "Erica", she was very appologetic & reitterated over & over that she had absolutely no control & no knowledge of what goes on in the kitchen. She told me that no one supervises how the kitchen puts out the food. "I can't oversee the kitchen because I'm serving you in the front" she said. But she was aware that the papa burgers were sitting with the rings for 7 minutes while the vegie burger was being cooked, because she saw them sitting there! "Common sense would dictate that if you are making 1 burger from scratch, prepare all 3 together so that they are served together". She told me that there was nothing that she could do & I should call back in the morning to speak with the daytime supervisor, whose name she was not permitted to give out... "Company policy" she said.
So I will call back tomorrow morning & speak with the supervisor to see what is what, and have to say about serving me $25.71 of cold, dried out, burnt & condimentless food...
Friday, Dec.28th, I spoke with the assistant manager Ilysa and we discussed my experience. Ilysa was apologetic & affirmed to me that the night manager was indeed responsible for overseeing the kitchen, and that my order should have been cooked together. She offered me my money back, and told me that she would review the camera footage from Thursday night to help her better train the employees.
I am satisfied with the way things were resolved, and I will be returning to this restaurant in the...
Read moreUpdated Review: I've had to downgrade my rating for this particular establishment. The last few times I've been here the service and establishment has been more and more lacking.
Last time I came, I ordered poutine and when I went to sit down, realized that they did not give me any utensils with it. I looked all over the condiments counter area, looking for a fork, which is not offered there -- and finally had to go ask staff members for it, and wait until they got one for me. This might not be a big deal to most -- but when you are physically handicapped, having to deal with walking and waiting around (when you can barely stand with a cane) for something that should have been provided in the first place is rather galling.
Secondly, my burger meat was actually quite lukewarm in temperature, as if it wasn't freshly made and had been sitting around cooling off in storage or something. Made my burger rather unappetizing to eat.
Thirdly, the womens' bathroom is getting more and more irritating. The baby's change shelf cannot stay closed, and therefore blocks the entranceway and limits maneuverability, especially in a wheelchair. Also, the toilet seat in the handicapped stall is dangerously loose, and could actually cause someone to loose their balance, and/or slide off and possibly hurt themselves! This is unforgivable for a handicapped stall, where we don't have the choice of just going in the regular stall, due to size restrictions, etc.
At this point, I am seriously considering no longer coming here, as it is not worth it, and should just head to the other fast food place across the...
Read moreI did a Hawkesbury run from Montreal on a nice sunny day and I always keep coupons for restaurants on the passenger sun visor side under the sun visor. I throw them away usually, but this time I realized around 12:00 noon that I didn't have a breakfast and I only had my coffee and I was hungry. So I rattle through the first coupons and I saw the A&W one and pulled into the place and it was very clean with three ladies serving and they were all very nice and by the time I was finishing my lunch around 12:20 just after the noon hour people started coming in. I was surprised because the burgers and A&W in Montreal aren't particularly good and sometimes they're really actually a rather sad situation. But this burger in hawksbury was actually excellent. Different beef and different content? It certainly seems like a completely different type of burger and it was good. With a fries and a Coke and I was in junk food heaven. It's not often I go for junk food but this one was very nice. The place clean the service. Wonderful! And the three ladies were a good communicators and a great team working there. When I saw the people pour in the team had no problem servicing everybody nicely . Then I accidented and took care of all the business stuff I had to do in Hawkesbury. But I was really surprised that an A&W burger in Hawkesbury was so much better than any of the three places that I've tried in Montreal district in Quebec. So Quebec A&W... You're unnotice, time to improve your burgers. This hawksbury in W has much better burger meat than we have in my own hometown. . Thanks Alex. Very A&W....
