Patisserie Afroditi Sources — Restaurant in Dollard-des-Ormeaux

About a week prior to my mother’s birthday back in November 2024, i paid the pastry shop a visit in order to place my order- the classic strawberry shortcake.

The store was well stocked and appeared nicely organized, displaying a variety of different products in addition to their pastries.

I was served by a young female employee, who took my order in an efficient manner and kindly accommodated my request to customize the chocolate plaque by adding a heart at the end of the text.

In terms of payment, i was given the option to pay for a portion of the order’s total or to completely settle the bill (45$ tax included)- i chose the latter, though i do appreciate being given the option to choose.

When it came to picking up the shortcake, it was ready on time and i was out the door not even 5 minutes later.

As someone who is a fan of strawberry cakes and pastries, I was pleased with its appearance, as well as the size and freshness of the strawberries. I also really liked the additional bits of pistachios and other nut(s) on & around the shortcake.

I will admit that i found the shortcake itself to be a bit too sweet for my liking, on top of the fact that there was a generous amount of cream- though this is my own personal opinion/taste. My family possesses a similar palette to mine and found it a tad bit too sweet as well, but it tasted good nonetheless.

All in all, i would definitely visit Afroditi again in order to try the other pastries that they sell, as they looked quite visually...

After several years of purchasing all my baked goods from Afroditi's location on Sources Boul. & after the countless great experiences I've had, it's with great disappointment that I will no longer give them my business. This weekend I had two loved ones birthdays to celebrate & with everything that's going on with the Pandemic I chose to deliver them cakes to their doorsteps to express my wishes. Unfortunately on Saturday when I stopped by to purchase the cakes for the first birthday, my box was switched with someone else's & I found out only later that the evening (the box had less cakes than what I paid for & was clearly not what I chose). The next day when I went in to get the cake for the second birthday, I kindly mentioned it to the staff & asked if they could at least give me credit towards my current purchase to make up for the inconvenience. They mentioned that they would have to call the manager & they did. Finally, they came back to tell me that not only will they not do anything but that because no one called them about it that there was no proof (FYI I showed them a picture & proof of purchase which was clearly not the right amount for what I got) I don't care for the money as it wasn't a large amount for me & mistakes happen but for the principal alone I will no longer visit this location & will discourage anyone I know from supporting...

I’m simply shocked at the recent experience my partner and I have had here, as we were verbally harassed, shouted at and threatened, when we arrived a few mins late for our reserved cake pickup.

My family and I have been customers here for 5 yrs and have always loved their cakes and service. However on Christmas Eve, when we came to pick up our reserved cake, they had just closed and although there were people inside, they refused to speak with us and to even give the chance to have a conversation about what might have gone wrong in our reservation. Since it was the holidays, it would be impossible for us to come back the next day, so we were hoping just to talk with the baker to understand where the issue might have occurred. Once one of the bakers finally came to the door, he screamed at us the entire time, did not let us explain our order and threatened to call the police on us before we could even clarify our question and confusion. Then he became red in the face and we were scared he was going to get physical. Really, all this over cake??

What we experienced was full on verbal harassment and intimidation, and no human being should be subject to such treatment. I no longer feel safe going to this place of business and can only hope that they train their bakers on anger management...
