I was very disappointed with my last visit. I came with a friend and it was her first time there (probably her last too). The service was really not what it used to be. First, we asked if we could be seated at a booth. It was not a problem we just had to wait for one to be cleaned, we really didn't mind as the restaurant didn't seem busy. The waiter finally came and cleaned the table but threw all the crumbs on the seats and left. So my friend and I cleaned our seats before we sat ourselves down.
Then it took forever for the waiter to come back and get our order. He finally came back and only took our smoothies order. We figured we would order the meals when he came back with the smoothies but no, he said he would come back. So we waited another 20 minutes before we were finally able to grab him and told him we were ready to order. Then we waited possibly another 40 minutes for our meals. We had to flag the waiter a couple times as he never came to check on us. I was ready to walk out (and trust me I'm actually really patient but we were starving) and mind you the restaurant was not really busy. When I asked the waiter if it was going to be much longer he said "why? do you have to go?". Hmmm maybe I just really want to eat.
Anyways we finally got our meals which was delicious, I must admit. Our waiter never checked on us. Didn't offer water or anything else. I actually wanted water but it was so hard to flag him that I gave up (Btw - people at a table behind us ended up leaving because the service was so slow so it's definitely a problem).
Also when we paid, there was no talk from our waiter, no apologies for the wait, no "was everything to your liking?". When we left we still said thank you and wish him a good day and no response from his part.
So I most likely won't come back. It's too bad because honestly the food is really good and the restaurant is clean and well situated but with the price of everything going up, going to the restaurant is becoming a little luxury and I rather go where I can get...
Read moreI usually try to stay away from the popularised breakfast restaurants due to the fact that they are usually crowded, slow moving lineups, average tasting food very large portions and pricey. Today we had run out of breakfast ingredients at home so I wanted to please my wife and suggested we go to a restaurant. We had no specific choice so we decided to check different eateries near us with the least lineups 😂 Good luck at 11:00am on a Sunday. After trying a few we said let's go to a fast-food place. Guess what, no more breakfast menu there. So not to disappoint my wife I gave in to waiting in line and chose Ben& Florentine at Marché de l'Ouest. Of course parking was not a problem .Yes there was a lineup but the hostess was very efficient and she was placing everyone very rapidly because the cleaning crew were very efficiently preparing the vacated tables which can be a problem in many breakfast places, you stand there looking at some empty tables but somehow you can't get seated yet... We were seated very promptly. The waitress, Catherine, came very soon and asked if she can bring us coffee with the most genuine smile! We made our choices and we enjoyed looking at the cute baby at the next table. Breakfast came soon after. Great presentation, the fruits looked good and they were nicely ripe and fresh, the eggs Benedict with avocado and bacon was very nice so were the potatoes, properly cooked and tasty. The cutlery and the cups were very clean and did not smell of eggs which we have encountered at other eateries. The portions were perfect not small and not extra large, just right. I also ordered a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, excellent. The bill came to $48. Including taxes , very reasonable!!! On our way out I complemented the hostess. I commented on how well she is running her ship!!! Very hard working and Gracious lady!!! I will not hesitate...
Read moreThis place unfortunately did not hold up to what my expectations were. Everyone kept telling me how much they love this brunch spot. They switched hosts in the middle of greeting us and instead of communicating the information to each other they just made us repeat everything to the new host.
When it was time to order I asked to add some extras to a plain crepe that was included with the meal i chose (obviously I would of paid the extra) and the waiter said that was not possible.. Something regarding the fact they’re “too busy” to do that in the kitchen?? I preferred ordering something else in that case. Asked for a side of bacon, it arrives completely burned… not a great experience.
We had coffees included with the meals we picked. They brought both coffees full to the brim, barely room for milk or sugar. There were only 2 packs of sugar in the little bowl with a bunch of lukewarm creamers and milkers. Had to ask for more. There were no spoons either, had to ask for that too.
When my friend wanted to use the bathroom, there was a huge group of people blocking the way, standing up and hugging and kissing. She had to get really close to maskless strangers in order to access the bathrooms, that was not fun.
Other than that, the rest of the food was good & the waiter was fairly...
