When I first entered the restaurant, the madam that was serving was taking the order of an Asian family by asking if they were ready to order. Because of that, I sat and waited for her to come take my order. 5 minutes passed and she didn’t come. Because of that, I got up to the counter to order. She asked me if it was to go like she didn’t see me sat and waiting. I said no for here. She sent me back to my seat so she could take my order. I sat waiting some more. After ordering, I was waiting for my food to arrive. During that time, the staff were looking at me intently, making it very uncomfortable. Then my food arrived. While I was eating, I saw the staff still looking at me, making this whole diner experience uncomfortable. As a black woman in Montreal, I didn’t think having black people in a restaurant could stirr up this much attention. Before I was done eating, the server came to me with a bowl for to go. This was very unusual for me because I was not used to packing my to go boxes myself in a restaurant. Then, after I was done packing, I hinted to her that I was done. She saw me. Despite that, she cleaned her restaurant, took to go orders, took phone calls while I was sitting bewildered. Then she came to me with the bill and asked me if I wanted more water. While pouring the water, she poured some on the table, looked at me and left. I smiled ackwardly thinking that it was unusual but she would come clean it up. She didn’t. She left that water spill there for me to deal with. I payed and asked for the bill which she threw at me with disdain. I will not be...
Read moreOverall a good dumpling place.
Food: Dumplings were good. Not the absolute best, but I was certainly satisfied with them. There isn't much else on the menu though. We tried the cucumber salad and I'd give it a 3/5
Service: When we arrived, it was a cold day and the place was empty other than a couple at one table. We asked to sit at the tables furthest from the front door (because of the cold) but we were told that all of those tables were reserved. So we had to sit close to the door and deal with the cold. The "reserved" tables didn't have any "reserved" signs and remained unoccupied the whole time we were there. As we were paying our bill, a couple entered and were shown to one of the "reserved" tables without being asked if they had a reservation. They didn't appear to know the staff. I don't know why this happened, but I couldn't help but notice that the couple might have been chinese. I hope this is just a misunderstanding.
Overall, it was a good meal. If I ever go back, I'll ask to sit away from the door again and see...
Read moreThis is the second time this restaurant pulls this kind of stunt on me. There will not be a third… I ordered some dumplings and a soup and when picking up the order I noticed they put a can of 7up in my bag. I informed them I thought there was a mistake and that I had ordered dumplings and hot and sour soup. They non-chalantly mentioned that they were out of soup and instead had replaced my soup with a drink. This without checking with me to either cancel the soup or offer me a more suitable alternative than a worthless can of pop! Keep your pop! Someone who orders soup doesn’t want a soft drink in compensation. So when I expressed my anger with them they checked to see if there was a more appropriate soup they could substitute my hot and sour with and when they came back, it turned out there WAS hot and sour available all along. Shady stuff going on here. Take your business elsewhere. There are great dumpling places available and this one no longer is one after repeated incidents...
