Jack Astor's Bar & Grill Dorval — Restaurant in Dorval

Highly disappointed! My daughters took me out for my birthday along with my best friend and her daughters. The waiter was worst than a deer in headlights. He took our drink orders , o asked him for a glass a water because I need to take my medication... times goes by and he comee back empty handed to retake our order again to make sure. When I finally get my sangria the glass had a rotten shriveled up strawberry on it. So I showed the waiter and asked him if he would eat that or drink from that glass. My daughter received her pan garlic bread it was barely warm not even browned on top. I get my main meal and my tortillas where legit raw in the middle. So kinda of made me lose my appetite. Yes gotten straight out except no discount off my meal nor a complement of anything extra. We got our glasses of water when we had our main meal. I took my leftovers to go.... damn lucky I checked he didn't put my leftover tortilla. My youngest daughter meal came with a dessert, I had to remind him after the meal etc... mind you with how all it was going my stress level and patience were through the roof. Beside he came back again to make sure the bills were right 4 bills for 7 of us. Here I am on my birthday trying to enjoy it with my family and friends and I just couldn't get out of the place fast enough. To the point my daughters and friend didn't have the chance to sing happy birthday to me nor I even got my birthday cake. Instead as I pulled myself up to get out the door.... I had a panic attack a gush of adrenaline emotions where I could barely breath because what should have been a great rememorable evening was one of the worst. I can except a few errors of a busy night... except come on a quiet Monday evening...

So my dad and I decided to have our monthly restaurant night recently and we decided to go to Jask Astors. We haven't gone there since the pandemic hit in 2020 so it's was about time we came back. We were expecting to have some good food there but we were pretty disappointed. Here is my breakdown on how rate everything.

Food - ⭐️⭐️ We both ordered the Chicken Parmigiana from the menu. The meal consisted of a piece of chicken with tomato sauce and melted cheese on top & a side of pasta with cream & tomato sauces. The meal is very mediocre. Pasta was a bit under-seasoned and chicken felt like it was deep fried. Cheese was barely melted on said piece of chicken. If your expecting a more traditional style of "chicken parm" do not go here. Also note the price for the meal was $25 and it was a smaller portion than what you would see at other restaurants for the same price or for a little cheaper.

Service - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our waitress was nice, respectful and understanding of our requests to improve our experience. No real complaints for the service. However, I am not giving the service 5 stars as it was not over and beyond, just your typical good service.

Atmosphere - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The atmosphere was typical for Jask Astor's, no real complaints here aswell. However, it's does not help that the place was pretty empty when we went.

Extra notes: I do not recommend going here for food here really. If your going out for some drinks, this place is not bad to go to. (Though drinks are a bit expensive here) They have a decent sized bar, plenty of TV's if you want to watch any sports games...

I’ve always loved Jack Astor’s food, but the delivery service is awful. I usually order through Door Dash, but since the service was down, I decided to order directly from the Jack Astor’s website. Big mistake. The order was late but I thought given the current circumstances, that’s to be expected and decided to give them some more time. Half an hour after my order was supposed to arrive, I decided to call to check in on the status. Only then was I informed that their third party delivery service (who I never had any contact with, since I ordered directly through the restaurant’s website) had failed to pick up the order even though it had been ready for quite some time. Only no one thought to call and inform me, even though they had my phone number and email address through the web order. If I hadn’t called to check in, I would never had known. Ok top of that, the employee I spoke to blamed their delivery service and said I was angry with them for something that was a third party’s fault. That’s all well and good, but I only ever dealt with Jack Astor’s. I didn’t order through a third party service. A truly disappointing customer service experience. I won’t be ordering there again.
