atmosphere was honestly the only redeeming quality about this place. went here for dinner with a friend since it seemed like a nicer place for a small town. the atmosphere is good, but too cozy for my personal liking. it’s very very small inside and out on the patio. the service is alright, i regret tipping to the extent that i did though… we ended up waiting nearly an hour for our food which was rather long considering that it was so small inside that it can only ever get so busy. waiting this long is okay when the food is incredible, but this wasn’t the case here. the food here was just okay. and considering the price in addition to the long wait, it was simply not worth it. the food is mediocre. not salty or flavourful enough, and the flavours and presentation are just not on par with my expectations given the price point. i got the spicy seafood linguine, and my friend got the special pasta (a creamy linguine with salmon). this food is what i would expect from a 2.5-3 star restaurant for $14.00, not a high-rated $30.00 pasta. i am certainly disappointed by this place and am embarrassed that i spent $140.00 on this dinner that was worse than the food i cook myself. and one more detail that bothered me was that they didn’t even have fresh parmesan, this is insane to me considering it’s such a simple and crucial detail for a good pasta, for crying out loud, even east side mario’s has fresh parmesan, but this nearly five star place doesn’t? that’s just wrong… all my go-to dinner places are never this expensive, but much better experiences overall. i will NOT being returning...
Read moreWe stopped in Monday for lunch and we were lucky to get in! Reservations would be appropriate. We were greeted by a lovely lady named Terri. who sat us with our ATV helmets lol It is small but elegant and we didn't feel out of place. The caprese beet salad was awesome and we had the pizza special which was delicious and pastry was done to perfection. We had fun with Terri over our check, I wasn't charged for a bottle of sparkling water, which I pointed out, Terri corrected this but printed a second check from the other coupe we were with. I again pointed this out, she came back with the correct check but later I noticed she had added coffees to our bill lol we will have to return to have the coffees :) Darn lol this is a must stop in the tiny village...
Read moreIt's so nice to have a more upscale dining option in Haliburton! We have been big fans of Rhubarb in Minden. Juna is from the same owners...and it shows. Fabulous food (the pizza is a must and we also enjoyed the oysters!), beautiful cocktails, great service and the restaurant itself is so beautifully decorated. It's small and highly recommend bar seats or one of the two tables at the front windows. The menu is just the right size - no laundry list of a million options so you know they are making the food fresh. There is a nice cocktail and wine list. We enjoyed sitting at the bar seeing how various drinks are made and chatting with bartender/our server. We...
