I waited 45 mins for food here , My grandmotherâs wings came out blacker than a the outside tables there ! The waitress tried to tell me that they were supposed to be that black and so I proceed to tell her that I was a restaurant supervisor and no that is not how the food is supposed to be served! So I sent them back. Then we waited another 25 minutes for her wings , My food was absolutely disgusting. I told her this. My burger was burnt to the crisp! and my fries, taste like fish , She said that the food and everything was on the house when she brought the second round of wings and then she came back with the bill and said that we had to pay because her boss wasnât here So I went back when boss was there spoke with her and explain to her that I was a restaurant supervisor before I went onto maternity leave and that this is definitely not how customers should be treated in 45 minutes even in the summertime is no excuse! And thereâs no excuse for the food quality and presentation to be the way it was So I proceeded to pay $90 in food that was absolutely disgusting I went and spoke to the owner and she refused a refund and stated that 45 minutes in her restaurant was reasonable for summertime. And decided to make me a burger and fries because mine was garbage and was not replaced because I did not want to wait another 25 minutes.! What should a burger that she decided to replace it with about four days later also went into the garbage. Their food is absolutely disgusting. They barely have a menu and itâs...
Read moreAndy is a fantastic and friendly chef and the food here is typically excellent, but they don't make it easy to get any. Their hours suggest they're open until 9. A co-worker and I went in just after 7 and were brusquely told they closed at 7, which seemed unusually early. A week later a friend and I made a fresh attempt at 6:30, and were again rebuffed, though at least this time the waitress was very friendly and apologetic. We were told that, although they're officially open until 7, the kitchen closes at 6:30. 6:30. For dinner. Unbelievable. This wasn't on a holiday nor a Sunday mind you, but on a Thursday night.
How in creation is a restaurant open for lunch and dinner able to make money when they shut down part way through the dinner hour? Frankly, they don't deserve to, and I write this not out of direct bitterness, but rather irked that this is just one more Haliburton County business with fantastic potential that's likely doomed to a slow failure, simply because they don't have the will nor work-ethic to serve a full client base. Few civilized, working-age people or couples want to hastily rush into town right after work if they feel like a dinner out. It's worth noting that in both these instances we went up the road to McKeck's, where the dinner crowd was so large both times that there was a long line of customers waiting to get a table, and the staff was run off their feet: Closing at 6:30 is certainly not for want of...
Read moreMaple Avenue Pub is hands-down one of the best spots in Haliburton. Right on the main street, itâs got that perfect mix of being relaxed and welcoming but still seriously delivering on food.
We had the troutâunreal. Super fresh, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The vegetarian linguine surprised me in the best wayâso much depth and richness, not something you usually find in a meat-free pasta dish. And the bacon crispy chicken sandwich? Absolutely nailed it. Crunchy, juicy, smokyâjust a ridiculously good sandwich.
Itâs also a great place if youâve got kids. Family-friendly without feeling like a âkid restaurant,â and still fun if youâre just out with friends. What really stood out, though, is how theyâre adding quality rather than cutting corners like a lot of places seem to be doing lately. You can tell everything is made with real, fresh ingredients and care.
Definitely one of those rare places that gets it all rightâgreat food, great vibe, and not trying to cut costs at the expense of quality. Canât...
