Keeping in mind we only tried breakfast here at Kosy, but it wasn't exciting. Came in with a good mood, left saying, "well that was boring..". The menu needs to add what actually comes with the breakfast rather than just a two egg breakfast for $10 or a 3 egg breakfast for $16. 4 dollars for an added egg? Are you joking? You can buy 12 for less than $4! I ordered a side of sausages for $5 and got 3 sausages. Most places it's one per dollar.. and they didn't even taste that great. But on top of it all, it was something you can make at home. There was no extra flair, no fruit or sauce that brings you back! Something that makes you happy you spent money there. I could cook that in the back of the truck on a Coleman stove. Unless they're catering to a crowd of old people that don't like change, because then it's fine. Still expensive for the amount you get though.
For example, If I return to this area, which I will because I'm from Bancroft, I'd rather go to Tim Hortons and grab a farmers wrap. Egg, cheese, hashbrown, actually good tasting sausage, and to tie it all together, a touch spicy but flavourful Chipotle sauce. Filling, cravable, special! For $6.... I know Timmies and Kosy arn't comparable with the massive bulk orders to bring that price down. But what we ate should only be $7-9 tops. Two eggs, maybe a serving spoon of shredded hash brown (i ordered assuming it was chunks not shredded because that's not explained anywhere. Actually didn't even know that was an option) 3 strips of bacon and my side order of only 3 sausages, and toast. I paid $16 including tax. That's a Cora breakfast with a cappuccino price. And that comes with fruit and fills you! And I'm not nearly an overweight guy in my 30s! Lol
All in all it was fine. If you're just looking to sit down, have nice service and basic of basics food you're willing to pay more for, by all means a great place for that! But for me and my crew of 4 ranging under the age of 60, looking for more quantity and quality...
Read moreHad breakfast Sun., Feb. 23 with my hubby. His pancakes and sausages w/maple syrup were the greatest! Unfortunately, I opted for eggs benedict w/deep fried homefries. Homefries were barely fried ... just boiled potatoes with a bit of browning. Chef had no idea how to make Hollandaise Sauce ... don't know what on earth was over the eggs, but it sure wasn't Hollandaise. Here's a proper recipe ... HOLLANDAISE SAUCE Ingredients • 3 egg yolks • 1 tablespoon lemon juice , or more as desired for flavour • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard • 1/4 teaspoon salt • pinch of cayenne pepper • 1/2 cup unsalted butter or ghee, or more for a thinner consistency, melted and hot Instructions • Melt the butter in a microwave (make sure it's covered as it will splatter) for about 1 minute, until it's hot. Alternatively, you could heat it on the stove. • Add the egg yolks, lemon juice, dijon, salt and cayenne pepper into a high powered blender and blend for 5 seconds until combined. • With the blender running on medium high, slowly stream in the hot butter into the mixture until it's emulsified. • Pour the hollandaise sauce into a small bowl and serve while warm. I also opted for a decaf coffee ... it was so strong and so bitter, I couldn't swallow it. Hubby had the orange juice that didn't taste like came any where near an orange. So overall happy with pancakes and sausages, but my advice is SKIP THE...
Read moreSpent the weekend in the area and after checking out local restaurants we decided that Kosy Korner looked like a well liked local breakfast place.
We arrived around 11 and were seated quickly, server came by about 20 mins after being seated and was very apologetic for the excessive wait. And took our full order at the time. We thought, no problem most breakfast places are very quick to make an egg breakfast....WRONG.
Server came by about 20 mins later and again apologized for the delay in food prep. Again no problem.
15 mins later again apologizing for the delay.
Finally 10 more minutes, right before we were about to leave the food arrived.
The food was not bad poached eggs were more like hard boiled eggs but otherwise ok.
Moral of the story if you want to have a nice breakfast and have no timeline at all this is a great place to go, but if you have kids or any sort of time line forget about it.
Server was very good and apologetic but Owner is defensive as she argues we didn’t order until 10:30 which maybe true, since nobody came to the table for 20 min. This brings a total of over an hour from the time we got seated to the time we got our breakfast.
All in all very dissapointed with the time frame to attend prepare and deliver the food. Server was very nice and owner...
