Albert's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Edmonton

When my husband and friends and I entered the restaurant, we attempted to take our usual seats only to be redirected elsewhere.

The new seating was in an area of the restaurant neither my friends not I like and when our usual waitress came over, she seemed surprised when I advised her we were not permitted our usual seats (the restaurant was not busy and there was no logical reason for denying us the area of the restaurant we prefer).

The waitress who seated us said she was keeping the other area for potential customers (none came in during the entire time we were there).

As we found the area we were seated uncomfortable and were forced there for no valid reason, neither my husband nor I believe there is any reason why we should be returning as we expect to be seated comfortably when dining out.

I was so uncomfortable that I declined ordering a meal and let my husband and friends dine.

My preference was to leave but they opted to make the most of an uncomfortable experience.

This was many months ago now - as I update this review and we have not been back since that unfortunate experience.

I see signs from the road showing that they are now open and their advertised price for the breakfast special, I know that when we decide once again to go out for meals, it shall not be at this diner because eating in comfort is paramount...

First time to eat at Albert’s. I didn’t even know what it was at first. We were parked by a nearby business and saw an elderly couple walk toward it so I googled it to see what kind of business it was. Kinda thought it had something to do with food as the sign had a fat guy with a chefs hat on. I was thinking pizza 😂 . It most certainly isn’t a pizza place. We had breakfast - mixed grill. This place blows IHop and Denny’s out of the water. From the time we walked in the door until we left it was just an overall great experience. My husband and I decided we didn’t want too much food so shared a breakfast. They even split the meal on two plates before we received it and there was extra on each plate. The food was so tasty. I highly recommend trying it out. We will definitely go back. Even when the server brought the tab to our table my husband commented how good was and the service was fast. She told him the kitchen staff were all rock stars. Well, so...

This place has gone downhill. They’ve changed owners. I’ve been coming here for 20 years and today was disappointing. I ordered the mixed grill and the sausage tasted like it was cooked in rancid oil, I think they changed the sausage they use. The rest was good but the service was terrible, we didn’t get our toast until well into starting to eat (who eats soft eggs without toast?) We had to ask for napkins, jam, a spoon, and a cup for my tea. The waitress was rude as well. The hostess took the drinks off of our bill which is why I’m giving 3. I won’t come here again , the sausage was sickening and they had the best sausage here before they changed it.

I tried this location again to see if there was an improvement & I had an appointment close by. It was horrible the eggs were overdone not over easy, my 2 pieces of bacon was 1 piece cut in half, the toast was an end piece (the heel) and burnt .. brutal, great service...
