First I just need to say that we are still super excited/hopeful to have this pub at this location, many many restaurants have seemed to fail here and we are hoping for success! This is why I’m leaving this review, the issues we experienced today are completely fixable.
We came at 12:30 pm and it was only at about 40% capacity. Waited over 10 minutes before we could even order a beer, the waitress walked past three times saying “I’ll be right with you”. The last time we just stopped her and asked if we could just get a beer before she brought menus. We then waited another 10 minutes to get our beers and menus. In hindsight we should have just left but we really wanted to try the food.
The food was stellar, we had burgers which were $5 off and Kilkenny on tap 👌🏼. We had ordered a 3rd beer to share but it never came, I finally just waved her over to cancel the beer order and asked her to please bring a water. She was apologetic throughout, but it was one of the slowest service experiences we have ever had.
It was clear that the primary problem was that there were only 2 waitresses working, one on each side, and a third person bringing drinks and clearing dishes. Admittedly the waitress on our side was also not at all efficient and very inexperienced. It was like she was doing one thing at a time, vs dropping bills and taking numerous orders at a time. She was apologizing to everyone, missing cutlery, no ketchup, we saw others getting up and leaving, someone walked to the bar to order a drink.
Please please please get an experienced server and have more on shift. We will be back for dinner sometime to give it another shot, but if the experience is similar we will not return.
Dec 16th updated review* Originally gave 3 stars due to poor service. Updates to 5 based on our second visit! They’ve added a host who seats you, which was a huge difference. All the waitresses were awesome, and food was delicious. Thanks for listening!!! We will be...
Read moreSherlock's is going the route of a few places now, where you get less but pay the same. Had the gluten free butter chicken. Both my friend and I noticed a couple things (having come to Sherlocks since it opened together, and with our spouses), that the portion size of the butter chicken was almost half of what it used to be AND now they didn't provide the gluten free roll with it (even though they had previously and I wasn't able to have the naan). This was peculiar as I had specifically asked for butter to go with the roll. At first the server tried to tell us it doesn't come with it, even though we were adamant it had. She went to check with someone in the back and came back and said it doesn't come with it as gluten free is more expensive. Um. Ok. But 1) It was part of the meal and had always been what was provided for the gluten free version (and to be honest, what caught my attention and kept me coming back as the roll was one of the best gluten free ones I've had- celiacs, you know what that is like) 2) It wasn't even offered AFTER telling us this. Sherlocks, while you have some selections for celiacs to enjoy your venue (which is always appreciated, so we can, you know, be treated like normal people and be social too), pulling the bait and switch like that, as well as falling down the rabbit hole with every other resteraunt selling less for the same/more, is super shady. You've definitely been noticed now and that sort of behaviour and price gouging will be remembered. A shame, since we've been to your establishment all together...

Service is consistent, and even better than before, and food quality has been better as well (although still sometimes inconsistent on portion sizes...). Got Scotch Egg to replace one I didn't get last time, and it was messy but good!
Chalking previous review experience up to mostly just a bad night. Have been coming here for 3 months somewhat regularly...food has been inconsistent week to week, as is service on occasion.
Tonight, ordered "Above Average Burger" which was anything but: Dry, cold bun, tiny sliver of pale pink/green tomato, one limp lettuce leaf with black spots, and lukewarm fries. Could have gotten 3 Whoppers nearby for the $22 price tag...saw Harvey's burger on the tv there that also looked more appealing than what I got.
Also ordered Scotch Egg to take home, but server did not bring it as we paid our bill...saw her seated at another table chatting as we left, and we forgot until after we got home. She DID credit our bill for a dessert (due to chipped glass which nicked my lip), but very disappointed overall with tonight.
Servers for most part are friendly and attentive, with a few exceptions. Not sure if chefs are same or different, as portions seem to vary. We will likely return, but we are learning...
