Quick Reader Review: looking around 1.8/5 rounded to 2/5. Price vs. The quality ratio was not up to par, unfortunately. It's definitely just a quick pop-up sandwich place, cheap ingredients for premium prices

More in-depth look: the potential of the establishment was very promising. I would definitely love to see a Philly cheesesteak place do it right.

The Sandwich: The bread quality was actually decent, so no changes needed there. The actual meat cooked wasn't bad. It definitely needed to cook a little longer. Grease was literally pooled at the bottom of the parchment paper from the meat. The veggies should also be sautéed a little longer as well. There was definitely a very slimy texture to the veggies, which is what happens when it's sped cooked without any quality control.

The Fries: Crispy! Classic fries were pretty good. Tweak the season just a little, and it's gold. French's ketchup is what the establishment has on hand. DO NOT use it. With the seasoning on the fries, it doesn't very little to pair well. Recommend swapping to a ketchup that's less "vinegar"

Miscellaneous/Establishment: There is a lot going on with the menu, I see there's new items already, and the place hasn't been opened for long. I'd recommend having your cooks though master the basics before expanding the menu. There should never be any greasy sandwiches leaving the kitchen for what would be considered a leveled up sandwich. Also, switch the queso cheese sauce for real cheese. I was almost offended in eating movie theater popcorn cheese for a side dip.

Aside from that, the place is very nice. Dark tones are very comforting. Lots of seating, and my favorite feature that I didn't notice until I sat down: the mobile order dine in qr codes, so you dont have to wait in line! Grab a table, scan and order, and they will bring it to you.

Message to the Owner: The Northside of Edmonton would definitely benefit from this style of food. The Southside seems to get all the new "hole in the wall" places, but this could be yours!

Excellent service here, Jim, thanks for allowing me to try the new sandwich. It was Delicious! Lots of meat, lots of mushrooms, the sauce was very good, had a nice taste to it, My Wife tried a bite or two and thought it was tasty as well. We both liked the sauce. If it makes it onto the menu I'll definitely be ordering it when we are in next. We've been coming here for around a year I'd say and I've never been disappointed, I've always had good service no matter the time of day. We've dined in, they have lots of tables, nice atmosphere, we've ordered out with delivery services and we've simply stopped in and taken the food with us. I always get the Phat sized Eagle, Hoagie or Phire Philly, today I found a new favorite, My Wife always gets their Veggie option, I believe it's called the Veggie cheesesteak where they substitute the beef with Mushrooms, We both enjoy the soft buns that they use. Phat Boy Cheesesteaks is Easy to get to, there is lots of parking out front and the staff are always really nice. I prefer this place over other Cheesesteak restaurants. My boyfriend and I stopped in today for the first time and honestly, I was blown away. The food was incredible. You can tell the owner (I'm assuming he was the owner) takes real pride in what he does. He was so sincere and kind, the kind of customer service that instantly makes you feel welcome. I placed a pick up order on my way and arrived within 5 minutes. He offered us water right away to have while while we wait, and gave us cups to get a drink from the fountain.

And I have to talk about the queso. I am a huge queso fan and it might be the best I’ve ever had. So creamy, and full of flavor. I could’ve eaten it with a spoon. They don't cheap out on the amount of queso like most places do either. It was amazing. I wish I took a photo of mine with the queso on it but unfortunately I just dug right in 😅.
