We dined at Bodega 124th on a Friday evening and enjoyed their cozy, tucked-away patio, intimate and perfect for a relaxed night out. The atmosphere was unhurried, and the entire evening felt effortlessly paced. We were warmly greeted by our server, Laura, who was exceptional from the start. I have Celiac disease and a tree-nut/peanut allergy, and she immediately put me at ease with her thorough knowledge of the menu and ingredients. While the menu doesn't label many allergens directly, she personally walked me through each item and pointed out what was safe or could be modified. Her familiarity with both house-made and externally sourced items was impressive, she even knew all the ‘may contain’ ingredients offhand. The food was beautifully prepared and full of bold flavors. Some highlights from our meal included the seared scallops, grilled octopus, garlic prawns, and the Family Landfood platter. The jamón ibérico was unforgettable, don’t skip it! I was also offered a thoughtful gluten-free and nut-free cracker selection in place of bread, which I truly appreciated. Even though some fried items weren’t safe due to a shared fryer, Laura carefully guided me through alternatives and modifications. Every dish that arrived was clearly marked as safe for me, which made the entire experience stress-free. As someone who has avoided dining out due to allergies, I left feeling not only satisfied but genuinely cared for. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and allergy awareness makes Bodega 124th a standout. Highly recommended!

From the moment we sat down, this restaurant delivered an outstanding experience. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The crispy fried bites (likely croquettes or fritters) were golden and crunchy on the outside, tender inside, and paired wonderfully with a smooth, tangy dipping sauce. The grilled meat with balsamic glaze was perfectly cooked — smoky, tender, and balanced by the slight sweetness of the reduction. Meanwhile, the pan-seared fish fillet stood out for its delicate texture and crispy skin, complemented by a drizzle of olive oil, herbs, and a fresh lemon wedge for brightness. The drink selection was just right — a refreshing beer, smooth red wine, and crisp white wine, all served in a cozy, candlelit setting that added a touch of warmth and relaxation to the meal. Every dish felt carefully crafted, the service was friendly, and the overall ambiance made it an ideal place for both casual dining and a special evening out. Would definitely come back again!

Bodega on 124th hosted our small wedding reception in October. The experience was incredible. Staff went above and beyond (shout out to Laura who we communicated with). The set up for the evening was incredible, they worked with the florist to ensure it was set up the way I wanted. When I walked into the restaurant it was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. They helped us pack up leftover food and all the decor at the end of the night. They held everything overnight and the next day a staff member even helped carry everything to our car. The food, wine and cocktails were perfection. All our guests raved about the food (especially the lobster risotto), and multiple people even stated it was the best meal they’ve ever had at a wedding! We will be making the trip to this location from Calgary as often as we can!

My husband and I decided to try the restaurant for the first time since it is in the neighbourhood. The food is really good I can't doubt that, but the service is another thing. Our table wasn't wiped down when we were sat down (kind of left a bad first impression as I would expect that at a pub not a higher end restaurant). But our waitress cleaned it down, problem solved. It was our first time here so we weren't familiar with the menu. We were looking for suggestions of what to have and also a better understanding of what the items were on the menu. When we asked her questions she was quite cold and unfriendly. She almost seemed to be mocking us because we were clueless about the menu. We felt very uncomfortable after to ask her any questions as she had some sort of attitude in her that we were beneath her. This left us feeling that she didn't feel it necessary to put the effort in for whatever her reason was. My husband has been to Sabor and we're aware that they also own Bodega, so when this was our experience, we found it to be out of the norm as Sabor has great reviews. She also brought only one of our orders to the table for us, all the rest were brought by other servers. We were considering having our wedding reception here as we have called to inquire about it and were told to come in just the two of us and try it before we decide. After this experience and the way we were treated there's not a chance we would have our reception here if we run the risk of our guests which are our family members be treated in such a manner. It's unfortunate cause their food is delicious but we didn't care for being treated...

We typically frequent the 124th St. location because it’s near our house. The food, service, atmosphere, and in the summer the patio is brilliant and we love it. Tonight we went to the Highlands location because we were going to pumpkins after dark. The service was an absolute delight from the moment we walked in evoking all of the feelings we have in our home location and of course we were excited for bacon wrapped dates (order these, trust me). I was distracted when we ordered our mixed grill and forgot to mention that my husband is allergic to onions and to please hold the chimichurri. When the plates came out, I was devastated… I’m fairly certain I uttered curse words. I apologized profusely and explained where I had gone wrong, took the blame, said obviously, please charge me for this, but can you please remake this without the chimichurri. Honestly, I’ve never felt so bad. The staff was so wonderful. Our shared meal was remade quickly and it was delicious as expected. As were our brilliantly made cocktails and the wine recommended by our server. At the end of the evening I commented for the third time ‘please, allow us to pay for my mistake’ and we were refused. Our bill came with only one charge for our mixed grill. For nearly 10 years I’ve been going to Sabor (corporate lunches downtown) and Bodega (dinners with family on 124 street) and consistently we’ve received impeccable service, excellent food, and brilliant accompaniment wine and cocktails in a wonderful atmosphere. Tonight I also received empathy for being a human who makes mistakes. I’ll continue supporting this company and...
