As a Pad Thai lover from Oregon, who would travel between cities to try all sorts of different Pad Thai's from each restaurant, this is the worst Pad Thai I have ever been served. Especially after what I was told. Coming here as a student for my first year of University, all I wanted to do was find the best Pad Thai here, and do school. Since at home, I would eat Pad Thai almost twice every week. It is by far my favorite dish. I was hopeful, and as I searched for Thai Places, I saw that this place wasn't too far of a commute. I ordered takeout over the phone, and showed up at the time that I needed to pick it up. I was told the food would take a couple more minutes, and me and the owner decided to have some small talk. I tell him I'm from Oregon, love Pad Thai, and have struggled to find good Pad Thai here. He tells me "Well, you shouldn't have to worry about that here, otherwise we wouldn't have been in business for this long!". I laughed, and told him I was glad to hear that, hopeful that this would be the place. The Pad Thai was ready, and I took it back to my dorm. The Food... Now, for the part that I am absolutely disgusted by. I start by opening the box, and am greeted by a dark brown sloppy mess of ingredients from Pad Thai, with the wrong type of noodles. Normally, the noodles in Pad Thai should consist of these wide, yet relatively thin rice noodles, but this was the opposite. They were rectangular and thick. They were also soft, too soft in fact, to the point chomping through them gave the impression they were like overcooked macaroni. The Pad Thai itself was excessively oily, and tasted like oily pasta. Which is surprising since on opening, its color made it look like it should be drenched in flavor. The beef was tasteless, but melted in your mouth. I was hoping for the beef to be a little chewy. Everything about this was wrong. The next day, I later threw up. Whether that was from the Pad Thai or something else, it still doesn't change the fact that I had to eat this because I spent $25 on it. The WORST Pad Thai. THE WORST. This was worse than the Pad Thai from Thai Express. Feel free to look at the picture and see what I'm talking about.

Late review went here about a week ago with a girlfriend later in the evening. It was not busy as we went an hour before they closed. We were seated right away. Our food came out quickly and the gentleman was quite nice. We ordered three dishes which was phat Thai with chicken, a stir fry veggie and also pang nang curry with shrimp. I was quite disappointed with the portions sizes for the price that you pay you get such a small amount. The worst was the pang nang curry with shrimp which is a $20.00 dish. As you can see in the photo we only got 7 shrimp and a few pieces of red peppers that is actually embarrassing to be honest. Either give more portions in your dishes or lower the prices. The cost for three dishes was $65.00 dollars that is pretty expensive for the portions we got I was not impressed. I will say the flavour is there with these dishes, they do make them well. The staff was friendly and it’s quite clean inside and in a nice location central downtown. But to be honest I don’t think I’ll be going back unless they change the portions or the prices.

My son and I went to Bua Thai Restaurant tonight. We were both craving something that was not fast food 😁 We were not disappointed!! We ordered the vietnamese spring rolls and it was fresh off the fryer. So full of flavor and crunch! For our main course we shared the Street Noodles and the Barbecue Chicken. The noodles had beef and vegetables covered in this wonderful sauce that packed a punch!! And the Barbecue Chicken was half a chicken encrusted with garlic and Thai flavors. We were stuffed!! The portions were big so we ended up taking some home, which I am not complaining about 😂😁 We loved the restaurant it was clean and decorated nicely. The owner was friendly and very attentive. We will definitely be going back to try other dishes 😀 I only took pictures of our main course as we ate the spring rolls so fast LOL

WORST Experience Ever.. Very very Rude Owner, Bland Food, very less portion,

As per google time, it closes 3 pm.. We three people went around 1.30 pm for lunch on a Friday(weekday), Not a single customer was there for lunch. Only owner was present, not a single staff in the back kitchen or in front. Owner said they were not open, even though Open LED sign was on. We mentioned that online it says it's open, and your sign says the same thing, then the owner lets us in with a bad face.

IT was during time, still No Mask rules applied to that guy, floors were sticky.. Not hygienic or cleanliness in the store.

We ordered the food, and it came very bland, didn't feel like we were eating Thai food, seems like continental food with coconut milk. Owner was in so much rush to close the store that he didn't make the food properly, rice was super cold instead of steaming. At that point we understood the owner is not in a mood today so it's not gonna work out, so we ate a little bit and were ready to pay the bill. Didn't come single time to ask how the food is or if we want anything more to order.

Yes, when we sat down, I plugged my cellphone to charge in their customer area outlet, owner gave me a look as if I was stealing something.

When HE gave us the cheque, he mentioned very rudely that he should have charged me for charging my cellphone bcos it costs money. That was it!! so we just paid the bill and he literally stopped us to leave. BCOS Tip was not the amount he was expecting. WOW!! He surely has guts to decide his own TIPS..

Have been to tons of Thai places in Edmonton, Never have such experience our favorite go to place is BOUALOUANG.. Old guy is the owner, super friendly, great food, reasonable prices, huge portions..

will NEVER visit Bua...

Bua Thai used to be one of the premiere Thai restaurants in the city a decade ago. I was interested to return after so many other new alternatives have opened up. I tried to order via the link in Google Maps except that took me to Skip the Dishes which said they didn't support Bua Thai. I then went to the website to order pickup which led me to Skip the Dishes...same result. I tried the link to order out...same result. So I called. I let the gentleman who answered the phone know that the link wasn't working. He said tersely that he knew and that it's been like that for two years but that I could use an android with Maps and it works. I said I had an android and it didn't. Never the less, he proceeded to take my order. I said I wanted a couple of veggie dishes. After order a veggie pad thai and a veggie stir fry, I wanted a few more dishes and he then said to me in a condescending tone, "I thought you only wanted two veggie dishes." I said I was interested in more so got the spring rolls, ride and green curry. He then reminded me again that I had said I only wanted two veggie dishes and was now getting five dishes. Whomever is answering the phone has a sincere desire to prove to the customer that they are in the wrong. Why wouldn't they be happy I was now ordering five dishes and not two. The food was great. But the service via the phone and when I picked up was terrible. I only rate four and five star establishments. But am adding this review here as I would like to inform future customers of the...
