Stopped in on a recommendation, reviews seemed alright. By far one of the worst meals I have ever had. Ordered dry ribs to start and they came out pretty quick, but very well done - almost like they had been sitting and refried for our order. Meal was a chicken parm, which as per the menu comes with pasta, starter salad or soup and garlic toast. I order it with a Cesar salad. I get chicken parm, salad and toast - no big deal maybe I wasn’t clear enough or there was a miscommunication. I get a few bites into my salad after trying to separate it from the sauce and warm chicken, and there’s a hair under my last bite of salad (that I took) which at that point was just soaking in tomato water... So I try the chicken. By far the worst chicken I’ve ever had - you can tell it’s not real chicken, is more like rubber. $25 for chicken that isn’t real is a little too much for me. My partner tried it and spit it out saying it taste like fish. Onto the “garlic” toast then, well it’s just buttered toast. Partner had the chicken cordon bleu and chewed the chicken so long he had to spit it back into his plate. I genuinely do not understand how this place has 4.4 stars - I’d give it a 0/5 if I could. Waitress was alright, she took my meal off the bill without questioning it.

Francos is your friendly, cozy neighborhood Italian restaurant. The restaurant itself has an entrance on the back of the building, and the bar is entered on the side near the front. My husband and I go there when we want a glass of wine and comfort food. Our favorite is the vegetarian Roma di Napoli with the Greek salad. The smaller salad is more then enough for two with a pizza and delicious. (Warning, though, cut the red onions unless you really, really like them!) The pizza is our favorite, thin crust, but still substantial. We also recently shared a special one night, a sirloin steak with a baked potato and vegetables. The steak was cooked to perfection. The portion of vegetables was much more substantial than you normally get and good, as well, and the side order of mushrooms was again quite nice. It was all we could do to finish everything. Francos also has a large table for a bigger group as well as two round tables nice for groups of 6, but it's advisable to call to reserve those, as the restaurant can be quite busy at dinner, especially on the weekend.

First off, the bartender/server was very friendly and made the initial impression a pleasant one. 🙂 I went to Franco's based on other reviews, and ordered the seafood lasagna (served with garlic toast) and a starter Caesar salad. I was not disappointed. The salad was a nice size, and had great taste. Croutons were crunchy but not dried out. I think the only thing I would do differently is include a lemon wedge. But like I said, a very tasty salad. The seafood lasagna came out not long after. Served in a stainless steel wok style bowl, looked very appealing. From the first bite it was so GOOD! Shrimp and crab meat were in decent proportions, and the sauce very flavorful. The only real disappointment was the garlic toast. It was a slice of white bread toasted with very slight amounts of garlic salt. A french loaf and garlic spread would have been more appealing and flavorful. When considering the quality of the meal and the service, I would happily go there again and recommend it to anyone reading this!

This review pertains specifically to the Callingwood location.

About a year ago we ordered pizza for Take Out. Upon returning home we found that one of the pizzas was unsatisfactory (wrong toppings but still edible). I called offering to bring the pizza back for repolacement. The person told me that there was no need to bring it back. She told me that our name was going to be put in their "book" entitling us to a free pizza at any time. She said no matter when you come in the free pizza will be available.

Yesterday we decided to give Franco's another try. I mentioned the book when we put in our phone order. She said she would check the book. When I arrived at the restuarant we were being charged full price to 2 pizzas. I asked her to check the book. Upon checking, she found that there was no mention of us in the book (when she was looking at the book I I noticed that there were pages torn out. No doubt our name was on one of those torn out pages). Upon request, she discussed it with the manager and he said that we were not entitled to a free pizza - full price applies.

I indicated I was told that the free pizza offer did not have any expiry date. However they were insistant on us paying full price. I refused and went to walk out. The cashier made a last ditch effort and offered the second pizza at half price. I refused the offer and walked out.

We have been customers at Franco's for years. We have enjoyed our meals and service (except for this issue). In fact, their pizza is some of best we have ever had.

In summation, we were disappointed that we did not get what was...

Worst service ever. My wife, in-laws and I went to Franco's for supper Friday evening. We had reservations for 615 pm. When our waitress finally came to our table, I commented to our waitress, Kate, that we had been sitting at our table for nearly 40 minutes before she came to take our drink orders. I was not angry or rude. I was simply stating a fact. Her response was "you're going to go at me before you even order? We're really busy and there's only three of us. If you're not happy, you are welcome to leave!" And that was before she took any of our orders! Kate then took our drink and food orders. It was another hour before our food came out. Kate made a big statement as she was passing our table. "I'm not going to charge you for your drinks." (We all had pop). When Kate was bringing our food to us, she was trying to be overly pleasant and very perky. Thanking us for our patience, could she get us anything else. We saw at least three tables that came in after us, got their food, ate and left before we did. Absolutely the worst service we have ever had at any restaurant in Edmonton. The food was passable. My wife had farfalle with salmon in a rose sauce. The salmon was over cooked, dry and hard. Not moist or flaky. The rose sauce was very good. I had the lasagna. It was pretty good. But because of the terrible service and long wait, I can only give our experience one star. Very...

We go here for food regularly and have said many times, I have never had a bad meal here, the food is delicious. I particularly love their Ruben sandwich so today we took our daughter for this fabulous sandwich. We both ordered the Ruben, mine with Cesar and hers fries we also each ordered soup of the day. The soup was only warm and the lettuce was brown and old. The bread was barely toasted and the sandwich was just ok. I asked that my salad be returned and it was replaced with fresh lettuce but barely any dressing. My husband ordered the sub but it came as a half sub and he also returned his brown lettuce. The waitress Jessie was not very friendly she never came back to see if everything was ok and never refilled our water or asked if we needed more, our glasses were empty. Jessie was in a hurry so she could slip out for a cigarette even though there were several people in the bar at the time, So this is the first time I was totally disappointed that is why the low rating of 2 stars. Every other time I ordered this sandwich it was served the same way with the salad seperate and not on the same plate as the sandwich. I believe we had a different chef than we usually have at lunch although Jessie insisted it is the same chef every day. So to finalize my experience not only was the food not up to your usual standard but neither was the waitress. Needless to say I did not...
