Gintaro is also in my top 3 for sushi place sin Edmonton at the moment, and is one, if not the best sushi place in Northside Edmonton.
The sushi has pretty good rice to filling ratio, (could be a tad bit better but very very good still). It's a little bit pricey in comparison to some of the other great sushi restaurants in town, but it's still good food and a good experience.
They have a good variety of food and some great sushi rolls. Their cheese katsu as was quite good too, very gooey and cheesy yet crispy on the outside.
The atmosphere of the location is also very very great and very aesthetic. I love the decor and decorations, which adds a lot to the ambience of the space and to the eating experience.
Visited in May 2023, got the calamari tower, caterpillar roll, tuna sashimi, and yakatori skewers. I found the skewers to be a bit bland. The tuna sashimi was really large, soft cuts which was delicious. The rolls had excellent filling to rice ratio and tasted amazing. The calamari was delicious too.
October 2023, the food was still as great as it was every other time I've come. Got the monkeys tear roll, caterpillar roll, and volcano roll. The monkeys tear was one of the best rolls in the bunch, but they were all really good
Overall, great food and love that it's a great restaurant on...
Read moreIt was okay, but not great. My wife and I have early dinner at this restaurant. We ordered sashimi, cheese Katsu, a roll, and tempura.
For starter, tempura was not even come.
Roll, it was ordinary roll just like other places. No special.
Sashimi... my wife liked it (not great) when Assorted Sashimi different parts. I personally did not like because it seemed like they put sashimi in room temperature too long that felt a little bit warm. *food safe alert. Also, they put artificial plastic flower on the sashimi plate. What if somebody has an allergic reaction??? *safety issue.
Cheese Katsu... did not like it. When I touched katsu with my bare hand, it was not even hot enough. Maybe cheese melted okay, but meat was not hot. Katsu was too greasy. I could see oil drifting.
When I went to the bathroom, it was horrible. Floor was sticky, and papertowels were on the ground. When I checked on top of the paper tower cover, it was greasy and dusty. Wonder when they cleaned it....
During our dinner, no server came to us and checked us for the quality of dishes. They were too busy with preparing their dinner rush. They were so occupied by chatting with each other. I could hear them talking from their kitchen and sushi bar as well.
It was okay, but it...
