It had been years since my last visit to Ichiban. My boyfriend and I had dinner here this past weekend because we happened to be in the west end and were craving sushi. We ordered a deluxe sunomono salad, two chop chop cones, takoyaki, and three rolls: maki maki, fantasy and volcano. The rolls were reasonably priced, given their generous portions of raw fish. In fact, they were so filling that we had 8 pieces left over to take home. Unfortunately, the takoyaki were overcooked with a crunchy exterior and slightly burnt taste. I agree with other reviewers that Ichiban is a casual dining spot. The interior could use some renovating to improve the atmosphere. However, overall, we were satisfied with the quality of food and service and would return.

BEST SUSHI IN TOWN!: I love SUSHI and I have tried several Sushi restaurants in Edmonton, and I can say that ICHIBAN is by far the BEST restaurant when it comes to FOOD QUALITY. Yes, the location is small, they don't have fancy plates or nice decoration, but I could care less about that when I know the sushi provided is of GOOD QUALITY. The fish is flown from Vancouver every 2 days and the prices are reasonable for the taste I get. I don't know what the reviewer フレ ひ was smoking when giving a 1 star review to this restaurant, but I guess everyone has their own opinion. I don't write reviews often but when a restaurant deserves a review I write one.

Ordered take out tonight from this place. We were a bit shock when we open the half order assorted sashimi … it was such a small tiny sad portion for $28.5. Every piece was cut as thin as possible & not so fresh. To mind you the fish even looked bigger in this picture than in real life. I feel like I got robbed. I understand inflation & increased cost to run a business and all that , but to charge $28.5 you better give $28.5 worth amount of food. I m not sure how this place got so many good reviews but for myself , I will not go back again. Highly NOT recommended

Went to Ichiban for our anniversary dinner after seeing so many positive reviews... Extremely dissapointed. Sushi was badly rolled, falling apart or too big to properly eat. They completely forgot about one of our rolls and I had to remind the server about it. Portions were not nearly big enough for the price. Gomaee was GOD AWFUL, not fresh at all with terrible dressing, it was so bad we had to send it back. Sake was incredibly overpriced ($20 for a large? Really?). Server was pushy when we wanted to take our time to order... and my biggest pet peeve of all - they charge for green tea. Once we left I was informed by my partner that they had taped off the heating duct in the bathroom so it was cold as ice in there which is just bad policy. I have no idea how this place has so many positive reviews and customers, it was by far the worst sushi place we've been...

went here for my mom's birthday because of the "high review". Very disappointed: sushi badly rolled Their udon noodle soup is VERY BLAND - DO NOT GET WHATSOVER, I felt like I was drinking hot soup over very soft noodles and bland meat. their crispy teriyaki chicken over rice was a joke, just a bunch of overly coated chicken over a bed of rice - no vegetables to take away the bitterness of the chicken coating I also want to add that there was only soy sauce available in the table so there wasn't any help in trying to bring some flavour in their food - especially that sad udon soup. Only ate half of everything, Wasted money, left felling "half full" and definitely...
