Johnson's Cafe — Restaurant in Edmonton

Ridiculously long waits at every turn.

First showed up at the tail end of the lunch rush. Host said there were no tables and to come back in 15 mins? Okay but he didnt ask for a name to jot down or anything... not without prompting. So we take a lap and come back in 15mins. Its still another 20mins before we are seated.

40mins later and no one has even taken our drink orders. Took flagging down staff no less than 3 times in order to make it happen. Would've left at that point, but theres not a lot of options here so we stick it out. Put in our drink and food order all at once.

Drinks consisted of 2 iced teas, 1 beer, and waters all around. Took 10mins to get the iced teas. They were lukewarm. No ice. Beer needed a few more mins to swap out the keg. Another 15 mins and it hasnt been done. Switch to a different beer? Fine. Asked for water again. That comes out with the new beer. Back to waiting.

The people who arrived an hour after us are already eating. The kids are going insane. Theres barely anyone else here since everyone has gotten food and left. Finally our food arrives. Of course, we didnt have cutlery and that was another 5 mins of waiting.

Arrival was at 12:30. We left at 2:45, with most of our food in take out containers.

Awful experience. Wasted a huge chunk out of...

If you are expecting a restaurant level buffet… no this is not the place. Went for lunch visit. $42 for adults and $25 for kids. With no drinks (water, coffee and tea only). And served very basic items like cheap sausages and bacons. With lot bread and croissant. And some cheap fave on food cupcakes. It was not worth the experience. Take your money to the keg or some restaurant near. In fact they don’t even serve juice or pop was mind blowing. PLEASE DONT VISIT.

Please don’t copy paste your reply with “email us the feedback”. You have my feedback here. Don’t pretend you are trying to improve your restaurant. You are clearly ripping tourist off. Because the other restaurant is packed and they aren’t not many options in the park.

It just disgusting to see a business trying to milk ppl in every way. Don’t even serve cheep juices and pop. Trying every way to charge tourist...

Scammer alert!!! Went to a Mother's Day brunch, which was massively overpriced to start out with. I told the waiter that I was in a rush and needed to pay the bill. Obviously he put in a 20% tip in for himself -- obviously he deserves the $45 that he tacked onto my bill for a buffet? I phoned them, and have heard nothing back from them so far.

I can afford it, but this is far more about punishment of thieves than about money. I'll be letting City of Edmonton police know about this too, incase...
