Went to check out the new location. We really enjoyed the vibe and were pretty excited by the large menu and reasonably priced beer. (Fish & chips were tasty)
Once at our table of choice on the lounge side, someone brisked by with some menus pretty quickly. It then took a while for our orders to actually be taken by someone else, but once we were acknowledged, our server was very pleasant and helpful. Things took a bit, but we understood as it was a Friday eve, and they are still in the new phase of things.
Truly, my complaint is...is that it was not until our bill rolled around that I saw there was a cover charge. No sign or verbal warning from any staff that coming in and sitting down would cost us $10 a person. Rightfully, there was a band playing, but no one said anything. Not the sound guy by the entrance, not the gentleman that brought our menus, nor the person that took our orders.
I've always been notified upon entering any establishment that requires a cover charge, and I've always paid it up front and separate from any other bill. By the time my husband and I noticed this charge, our server was already gone and busy. (I did wonder why the bill seemed kind of high, but in a good mood, and against my better judgment, we ignored the details)
We decided to blame ourselves for assuming, but I can't help but feel slightly annoyed that no one said anything.
I do look forward to returning and enjoying more food and live music, but I would appreciate more transparency. Perhaps this is how it was done in the old location, and the regulars know this, ...
Read moreI went into the lounge basically to play vlts, have a couple of beers and a light nosh. There may have been 3 or 4 tables eating. The server, and I use this term only for a lack of a better option, stood at the bar in between checking on the tables. She walked past me at least twice without acknowledging my presence. I sat for at least 20 min before I went up to the bar and got myself a beverage. This is when I came into contact with the supposed manager on duty. I finished my beer and sat there thirsty and still no attention from the server or direction from the supposed manager that I might wish to order something. I may be old fashioned but when I worked in the hospitality industry as a server, that is exactly what we did; provide a service. We noticed people or at the very least acknowledged their presence and asked if they wanted anything. I have heard that Indigenous patrons are often ignored or given poor service because they are known not to tip well. I my be Indigenous but not all of us don't tip. I will say at minimum I leave 10%. From there, the better the service the larger the tip. I will not visit this...

Wings Wednesday is when I normally attend. The wings are $0.45/wing, but require a drink to qualify (i.e., juice, pop, alcohol). The drink is typically $3.50, so make sure you factor that in. The wings come in sets of 12, 15, 20, 25, 30.
Make sure that if you may want more that you order the larger size, because the smallest size is 12 wings and they don't charge by total number of wings. Expect to wait 20-30 minutes and best freshness is at 7pm (opening for wings) and after 11pm.
There are games tables. Slots, billiards, darts and occasionally live music. Multiple TV's line the walls so you never miss a sports game. The billiards tables are typically full by experienced players, so don't expect to come in and have a casual game.
There is adequate parking out front that is free, although the light to turn left heading north on 50st will make you wait 10 min. Also possibly hit the train which makes it difficult to go north.
Overall good experience, my favorite place for wings, good ambiance and...
