Today, I had the pleasure of stopping by this restaurant for lunch while working, and I must say it was an interesting experience. When I arrived, I was pleased to find a quiet spot at the bar, perfect for getting some work done. However, as more customers trickled in, the ambiance became livelier, but in a good way. The restaurant had multiple TVs broadcasting different programs, providing some entertainment and a casual atmosphere.
The staff was notably friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall positive impression of the place.
Now, let's talk about the food. For my lunch, I decided to go with their "Black and Blue Burger," essentially a classic burger with a twist – a blue cheese sauce and caramelized onions, served with a side of Costco fries. My initial impression was rather neutral. The presentation and flavor were decent, but it didn't stand out as exceptional. On a personal note, I have a soft spot for Costco fries. They're delightfully crispy and packed with flavor, though I'm not entirely sure about their nutritional value – probably not the healthiest option, but they certainly satisfy the taste buds. For those who prefer to avoid such indulgent options, the menu also offers alternatives like salads and the soup of the day.
Now, let's dissect the burger itself as if we were connoisseurs. It came with a beef patty that had been stove-cooked – the quality was average, certainly a step above what you'd find at fast-food chains like McDonald's. The toppings included lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and caramelized onions, all enhanced by a lightly flavored blue cheese cream.
My only gripe was with the buns. They resembled the cheap ones you might buy for a kid's afternoon BBQ birthday party. Additionally, the patty wasn't uniformly cooked, leaving some pink portions in the middle. This might appeal to some, but I personally prefer a well-cooked patty. Perhaps it's because I don't consume meat often, but I detected a slightly sulfuric aftertaste that lingered. However, meat lovers might not even notice. Maybe I should stick to the vegan world – just a thought!
All in all, the meal was decent for a casual afternoon bite. I'd consider returning to sample other items from the menu. It strikes me as a great place to enjoy a drink with friends, thanks to its comfortable interior and ample...
Read moreThis place has gone downhill over the last 15 years. I use to adore this place but the last few years when going the service has been terrible and food not so great. Last night was the probably the last time I will ever go there. Besides what looked like a few regulars sitting around/near the bar there were only three other tables in use, four including mine. When asking about what the special burger of the week was the waitress had no clue (its Thursday already) and had to keep turning and shouting over to the bartender to ask questions about drinks and whatnot to the point where we had no idea what she was saying as she wasn't even facing us. Took nearly ten minutes to have two pints poured (I was seated at a table next to the bar) the bartender was busy doing a lot of nothing. Food was brought out and my first bite of my burger shot what seemed like four tablespoons of bbq sauce across the palm of my hand burning it that even today its very sensitive to touch or hold anything. I didn't realize that a burger would be drenched in so much sauce that the bun was soaked right through, oh not to mention that they cut the patty in half for whatever reason. When I looked around for the waitress I spotted her slumped over at a table watching the Oiler game. She didn't come check on us for fifteen minutes into our meal as she was too busy lounging around. Needless to say I was none to happy. I did not have the kitchen make anything else as I didn't want to waste anymore of my time there. Hands down this place has the worst servers which makes a huge difference in customer experience whether the food is terrible or not. Perhaps hire some customer service oriented servers and bartenders who put an effort not only making customers feel at home but that put effort...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting the new location. I like the new layout alot. However, I found the weird green ombre type colour used for the drinks menu hard to read and the lighting in the space seemed to bounce off the food menu pages producing a weird glare that messed with my eyes whle trying to read it.
Our server was lovely, attentive, friendly and accomodating. I can't remember if she told us her name? We were there at 1:30pm and it was quiet.
I ordered the Fargos Clubhouse. I totally missed it saying on the menu that it had ham on it (which I find odd, and I hate ham) but I just peeled it off and my brother made a mini sandwhich with it LOL. The fries were yum. Sandwich was pretty small compared to other places however, it was real turkey breast cut decently thick and the cheese was actual cheese and tasted like an medium/aged cheddar. Good flavour overall.
It seems like the prices went up on the new menu or at least since the last time I visited Fargos at the old location. I will need to try some more items before final judgment on their menu/kitchen.
I was hoping to return this evening to watch the game but sadly could not. Our server was super helpful when I was asking questions about game nights and showed me where they set up extra screens and that they have additional seating set up. I appreciated her taking the time.
On a side note: I have always appreciated that Fargos is supportive of community and LGTBQ2+ and alternative lifestyle gatherings. It has never felt judgemental and that creates a welcoming atmosphere.
I look forward to my next visit. Thank you for an enjoyable 1st visit in...
