A garbage branch with no credibility, staffed by heartless and arrogant employees.**
On the afternoon of June 2nd, I drove from Calgary to the Leduc branch, where the staff told me they were out of egg tarts. They called and placed an order for me at the Edmonton branch, assuring me it was reserved and that I could just go pick it up. I arrived at the Edmonton location by 4:30 PM. The employee—yes, the kind of typically arrogant, fake-"polite" type with zero remorse—told me without a hint of guilt that the egg tarts had already been sold. When I questioned how a reserved item could be sold, the employee shrugged indifferently and said, "Yeah, we sold them to other customers who came earlier." (Subtext: "We don’t care about your pre-order, especially from an Asian customer. What are you gonna do about it?")
I was speechless at the shamelessness of this employee and left the store without another word.
So, owner, is this your business’s reputation? Is this how your employees treat customers? If you think this is acceptable, then I hope you encounter equally terrible service every single day and are treated with the same...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped in for a little treat. I’d heard about this place on the radio and wanted to check it out. I was mostly after the Mil Folhas however, I didn’t know what they were called. They were my favourite treat as a kid but the only other place I’ve tried them at has been at the Chinese bakeries. They’re similar, but not great. The Chinese bakery mil folhas are insipid. I was pleasantly surprised to find them here and they didn’t let me down. We bought a dozen of a variety of pastries. We liked most of them except the Eclairs, they were slightly stale and they tasted like they’d been in the fridge a little too long. They’re kept on the right side of the puff pastry little cones with the white stuffing. If you buy the puff pastry variety you should be good. They’re nice, flaky and messy to eat, but so worth it!😋 The kids liked the strawberry and lemon tarts too. if you buy a dozen items it’s $14.95, they’re $1.50 individually. We will be back to try other items maybe even some bread and sandwiches and a nice...
Read moreThis review is ONLY on Pastel de nata, and nothing else, I have NOT tried anything else. I came to this bakery after visiting Portugal. Keep in mind I have travelled extensively in Portugal, major cites as well as costal and small towns. I was pretty excited to pick a few up. upon trying them they tasted absolutely disgusting. it tasted like coloured thick sugary syrup in a pastry shell. I called the store immediately and got a lecture in Portuguese cuisine, and how this bakery only makes "authentic" recipes and tasting products, and how I have no knowledge on on how it tastes. I beg to differ. after consuming this item all across Portugal in over 50+ establishments, I have a very good idea how "authentic" Portuguese people...
