I stopped by Sept 3rd, Sunday around 6:45. I walked in and ordered the dinner for one for take out. I placed my order but the woman took a phone call and kept me waiting. As I was waiting, i noticed the kitchen door was open and it was dirty, looked messy and the guys in the kitchen were in clothes and at first I thought they were delivery drivers. Then 3 were some kind of cooks! One even dropped some food on the floor and quickly picked it up and looked at me to see if I saw. Lol. I than see a large gray dish tub full of rice just sitting there, on a pail close to the floor! Then they scoop out rice from there to scoop into containers! Then I see a cooler of canned drinks shared with many dirty containers, cans opened and and plastic over them. I saw many dirty stained sauce containers. All items in the cooler were mixed. Gross! Then I saw a small, cramped, dirty dining room with a corner used as a storage corner. After seeing all this, I was turned off, I then was about to cancel my order when the woman finally was off the phone, she thrust the debit machine at me. I hesitated to order what I saw, with regret I went thru with the purchase hoping the food would be good. As I sit and wait, a guy walks in, wearing a coat and a delivery bag, he walks into the kitchen. I see him take a small bag of spring rolls from the kitchen. I thought it was his order. He puts the spring rolls on the table and and sits down on his phone. I wait for 10 mins when that same guy at the table has an takeout container and I thought it was his dinner. I look at my phone for a couple minutes when that same guy comes up to me and says, here's your dinner for one. I look back at that dining table and that food that sat there apparently was mine! I took it unwillingly and didn't know what to say. After a short drive home. I taste a spring roll and it's cold! It seems undercooked and not crispy. I then see my dinner. Plain white rice that's supposed to be chicken fried rice and it's the same rice from that tub! The rice was sticky, clumpy and disgusting! The chicken and veggies is questionable, the chicken looks soft, rubbery and very white. At first I thought it was tofu! It was gross! The only thing I liked and ate was the sweet and sour ribs. This was the worst chinese food I ever saw, ate and paid for! It was $19.90 of wasted money!
A FOOD SAFETY INSPECTOR WOULD SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN FOR MANY VIOLATIONS! no hair nets exposed, uncovered food all over the kitchen. no washing hands in the kitchen. delivery drivers walking in off the street, touching food, putting food on a dining table as it sits and waits for other food on the table to put together orders. disgusting, gross, clear window on the food/drink fridge in the dining room.
I would never order food from here again. NEVER! I would strongly recommend you to walk in and look around. See that disgusting kitchen and sloppy cooks preparing your food, never washing their hands, no aprons and looks like people who just walked in from the street.
Stay away...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about Rice King! The quality and amount of food here truly exceeded expectations. Every dish was served hot, fresh, and absolutely packed with flavor. The portions are extremely generous—you definitely get more than your money’s worth.
From the perfectly seasoned fried rice to the crispy wings, golden fried bites, and the savory stir-fried vegetables, everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. The sweet and tangy sauces on the beef and chicken dishes were rich and bold without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of food that keeps you going back for just one more bite, even when you’re already full.
On top of that, the variety on the table was impressive—there’s something for everyone, and it’s clear that care goes into both the cooking and presentation. With great service, hearty portions, and flavors that leave you craving more, Rice King has easily become one of my go-to spots for Chinese food.

Read moreI popped into Rice King for some Pho for lunch on my last trip to Edmonton. Its a quiet little place and the staff are friendly. I did my usual order of Pho, spring rolls, and vietnamese ice coffee. The coffee was standard, nice and enjoyable, however the spring rolls weren't good, they were okay, tasted like permade frozen spring rolls bought from a groccery store. The Pho was good, its very affordable and not a large portion size. They have very reasonable price. The meat was tasty and the broth and noodles were too. If you're in the neighbourhood and looking for lunch this is a good place. Again good price point and nice Pho, just needs in house made spring rolls or a different distributor. Service and staff were great, Pho tasty just those spring rolls bordered on being...
