DO not come to this place. The food here is genuinely awful. My friend and I ordered their tempura, Udon, and a teppanyaki noodle with chicken cutlet.
To start, the udon was horribly soft and mushy. Definitely overcooked. The vegetables, on the other hand, were completely undercooked and had much give to them; I'm almost certain they came out of a plastic frozen vegetables bag. The meat was sliced very thinly and cardboard-ish, somehow carrying a grainy mouthfeel with no flavor to it whatsoever. Imagine chewing on a piece of dried rubber. The broth genuinely isn't worth mentioning. Their stock, in comparison makes pasta water seem like ambrosia from the heavens.
The teppanyaki noodle was horrible. Noodles were, once again, incredibly mushy. Sauce was simply just okay. Vegetables were beyond inedible; they were bitter, had a parboiled/blanched texture, unseasoned, and the dressing was a weird vinegary, disgusting, slimy and salty cream with hints of alcohol to it. The chicken katsu, aside from the sweet store-bought sauce, was completely flavorless, dry, and the breading tasted stale, which I didn't even know was possible.
The tempura was... Simply alright for the first couple bites, but the overusage of unreplaced grease and oil made our stomachs churn. After a bit, the oily taste was very reminiscent of iron tablets. The filling for the tempura, was also horrible. The shrimp were noticeably mushy, and were most certainly not fresh. The yam was simply okay, being that it is nearly impossible to mess up.
The entire ordering process completely threw our standards into the toilet. It was very much like ordering at McDonalds or a fast food chain, not a commendable...
Read moreIt is with a heavy heart that I express my disappointment with this restaurant. However, it is with an eager spirit that I warn anyone seeking authentic Japanese cuisine to avoid this place. When I discovered the owners were not Japanese, I thought it wouldn't matter, but it did. This is often the case with sushi, bento, and teriyaki dishes.
I ordered the teriyaki beef and shrimp with noodles, along with a variety of maki rolls. The noodles were egregiously greasy, and the flavor was reminiscent of something from Costco. There was nothing authentic about it. Even jar sauce would have been better. The vegetables were bland and overly soggy, the beef was overcooked and chewy, and the shrimp looked sad, as if they came from a shrimp ring at No Frills.
The maki rolls looked homemade, as if they were made by someone with less than basic cooking skills. The flavor was bland, and the rice tasted more like regular white rice rather than sushi rice. It felt like it came from a grocery store box. On a scale of authentic flavor, I would give it a negative 5000. It was the worst $88 I've ever spent on "Japanese" food.
This place is suited for anyone with a very timid palate, someone who typically doesn't venture far from frozen foods like chicken strips and fries. For them, this would be adventurous. If you have a cultured palate, avoid this place. If you decide to give it a try anyway and realize this review was accurate, please come back and click like to warn others. If you write a review, feel free to reference this one to reinforce the warning.
P.S. They stock pre-wrapped take-out wooden chopsticks, but the main dining utensils are silverware (red flag), which you have...

This gem of a spot offers classic Beef or Chicken teppanyaki dishes that are cooked to perfection, as well as a variety of Bento box options that include crunchy tempura and nigiri.
One of the best things about Mt. Fuji is the price - for the quality of the food, it's definitely one of the best bangs for your buck around. You can enjoy a filling meal without breaking the bank, making it the perfect spot for a quick lunch or dinner.
While the dessert options at Mt. Fuji are somewhat limited, there are plenty of nearby options to satisfy your sweet tooth. Ocha bubble tea place is just a short walk away, and Wayback has some fantastic milkshakes that are perfect for washing down your meal. If you're in the mood for something cold and creamy, there's even an ice cream shop next door.
Overall, I highly recommend Mt. Fuji for anyone looking for delicious Japanese cuisine at an affordable price. The teppanyaki dishes and Bento boxes are top-notch, and the low cost makes it a great option for anyone on a budget. With a few more dessert options, this restaurant would easily earn a perfect 5 stars. But even with this minor flaw, Mt. Fuji is definitely worth a visit. So why not stop by and give it a try? You won't be...
