Swagat India Bar and Bistro is an incredibly surprising offering of Indian dishes at the odd intersection of Kingsway and 118 Avenue on the traffic circle in Edmonton. First off, the exterior doesn't suggest that within is such amazing Indian food. It's a little run down. And when you enter the space, it's a bit of a dimly lit, similarly run down, interior. There seems to be a darker area where there appears to be a dance floor...perhaps karaoke and late night festivities? Anyways, the server was very kind and helpful. Some of the other diners were a little rambunctious...it is a little bit of a poorer area of town. The food was super good. They have a very diverse menu and all of their offerings were very good. The tastes were authentic and the presentations were lovely. Highly recommend if you can find a parking spot in this tight space. 4 x 🍛🍛🍛🍛

I had ordered food from this restaurant via Skip the Dishes. To my surprise the desert i.e Rasmalai that I had ordered was stale and had gone bad. I could tell just by taking the first bite. Had to spit the whole thing out. It’s highly disappointing when you spend so much money and restaurants like these send bad food which has been probably sitting in their freezer or fridge for weeks. It is a milk product so it does posses some health issues if eaten bad. I understand times are tough but at least make fresh food and serve it to the customers. I would definitely complaint it to the food safety authorities for the fact that the food was not checked while being sent out. God know the cleanliness or hygiene that is being followed. I recommend the staff should check for the sake of customers health and food quality. Highly disappointing.

Just had a lovely lunch here. Samosas are crispy, korma is creamy, and biryani is packed with flavor. AND, as other reviewers have noted, the portions and price are great. Keep it that way! As a Caucasian raised on northeastern country cooking, but tolerant of a little heat, I found the spice level just right. Though, if you're sensitive to spice, it's probably best to talk to you server. The veggie korma is described as "mild". But that interpretation depends on who you ask. I really enjoyed it and it was similar to other kormas I've had. But I imagine if you're expecting mild to equal "spice-free", you may leave sweating! Give this place a try. Besides, what goes better on a cold snowy Edmonton day than fresh hot Indian food?! Mmmm! Will certainly be coming back.

Unfortunately, after years of patronage we have to give a negative review to Swagat. We ate here minimum twice a week for the last few years and recommended the place to many people. A couple of months ago we noticed that the chicken and meat was not the same as it used to be. All white meat was now brown meat and quality generally dropped. We brought this up with the owner and he said that it was due to high cost of food that they made this change. Sauces seem to taste different and other vegetarian items declined in quality. We stopped ordering food from there due to these issues. We brought this up with the owner and although we asked if he could substitute with the old recipes the owner refused. After a couple months, we missed the food and we decided to give them another chance. It was a bad decision, chicken is slimy and worse than ever before, samosa was stale and disgusting and we ended up throwing away most of the food. Even the rice was different. As a family we are super disappointed with the outcome of a place we used to consider one of our favourites. We will not be eating...

I wish I took photos for you guys but I ended up eating right away when we got it LOL so everything look haggard and messy. I’ve seen this place on the corner of that traffic circle on 118 for a long time and never thought to order from home until the other day. Prices are reasonable, but the food was better than expected. We ordered the butter chicken and the goat curry, With Nan, one beef Samosa and one Veggie Samosa with extra sauce. Oh and the paneer (Spinach and cheese) Which was so good. I’m not gonna lie the butter chicken wasn’t special but it hit the spot. As for the goat curry and the paneer- FKN DELICIOUS. Excuse my abbreviation of profanity but I wanted to share how good it was LOL. Looks like a humble little family owned business. Would totally recommend for y’all to try them out for Indian takeout, and support local businesses :-). Thanks for the customer service, keeping up with Covid rules, and...

Went in for the first time on Wednesday with my girlfriend, and was astounded.

The service was great. Despite being the only guests in the restaurant at the time, which wasn't a surprise since it was just 4pm on a Wednesday, our server didn't hover over us but was attentive to our drinks and food.

The food was phenomenal! We started with their samosa's, each the size of my fist. Flaky and with a hint of spice, but not overwhelming the flavours of the food.

I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, low heat, and it is simply the best Tikka Masala I've ever had. Rich and creamy, the chicken was tender and perfectly cook. My girlfriend had the Butter Chicken and raved just as much. The portions are huge, far larger than I was expecting them to be.

The only minor downside is that the music was a touch loud and repetitive, but I imagine when the place is full, you'd never...
