Taste of Shangri-La — Restaurant in Avenue District

The food is amazing; no question about that. We have been to Taste of Shangi-la a few times and we always try new dishes. They are all delicious, flavourful, nice sized portions of really clean food.

The decor is nice, but it was clearly a western setting at one time. It would be nice to see the chaps, and other western gear on the walls, to be taken down and replaced with a theme according to the cuisine that is served.

Sadly, tonight I discovered a disturbing fact. I wanted to tip my server and was told there was no point because the servers at this establishment will not receive them. As a former server, bartender, and line cook this is not only appalling but absolutely disgusting business practices.

I do not need to go into details on why this is unacceptable, or why people choose to work in hospitality in general. So, I ask, that all who read this post, to please comment on how they feel about this great restaurant operating in this...

We visited Edmonton from the USA and decided to try Taste of Shangrila — and it was absolutely worth it! We ordered chicken momo, chow mein, butter chicken, and garlic naan. Every single dish was bursting with flavor and tasted so fresh. The momo were some of the best we’ve ever had — juicy with the perfect dipping sauce. The chow mein was seasoned just right, the butter chicken was creamy and rich, and the garlic naan came out warm and perfectly fluffy.

We’ve honestly never tasted food quite like this before. The flavors felt authentic and unique, and you can tell everything was prepared with care.

On top of that, the staff was welcoming and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere that made us feel at home.

If you’re ever in Edmonton, Taste of Shangrila is a must-visit. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely come back the next time...

The taste of Shangrila never disappoints me when it comes to cleanliness, friendliness, tasty food and customer service . This is best Indian restaurant in Edmonton. I have been enjoying this place since it’s opening. If you love chicken , you should try butter chicken poutine , their signature tandoori chicken wings , I give 10/10 for signature tandoori chicken wings , butter chicken poutine , veg momos , veg Hakka noodles, pina colada , truly delicious. If you try once, you will love to come again , owner and staff manager always greet me and attends me personally. I really appreciate their generosity and dedication towards their business and customers. They respect everyone opinion for their growing restaurant. I challenge, you won’t find better restaurant than the taste of Shangrila . They always have consistency with their amazing food taste. Fully Indian taste if you miss Indian food...
