Wanted to try a new place for our anniversary and read some good reviews about 335 so i made a reservation and we headed into Ridgway. Over all the meal was okay but it took a while for the food to come out and the place wasn't that busy. The wait staff was a little disappointing. Listening to a waitress at another table and noticed ours never told us about the dinner special and missed a couple of the deserts options (this was at the end of our meal). She asked if we wanted more water and took our bottle away but never brought another back. We ordered the bread plate and it was okay but we thought it was odd that the bread was cold. My wife got the seafood pasta and it was good but needed some more sauce and for some reason there was only one scallop on the plate and it wasn't very hot. We don't mind paying for a good meal but for the price we paid we could have gone to a much nicer place.
Looks like the response from the restaurant was just a PR thing as I have emailed twice with no response. So on to other issues.
The $15 martini was very small and watered down. When we ordered coffee the milk and sugar was brought on a plate which was fine but there was no spoon in the sugar cup. We had spoons for the coffee but there were in the filled coffee cup. I had to make a conscious effort not to put the spoon in the sugar jar after putting it in my mouth since there was no dedicated spoon for the sugar. I wonder how many people do that without thinking about it which make me kind of ill thinking about it. Also listening to the wait staff talking loud about going to New York city for the lighting of the Christmas tree but not being able to see the Macy's day parade while they sat at the bar 15 feet from my table kind of took away from the conversation my wife and I were trying to have. After talking to several other people about our experience it seems this is the new norm for this restaurant since it was taken over. Really don't think we...
Read moreAfter moving back to Niagara from Toronto - I definitely was missing out hard on the strong and diverse restaurant game there. I tried a few places here which were unremarkable, aside from a couple wineries which, though delicious - break the bank. A local friend knew my taste and strongly recommended 335 On The Ridge. To say I was blown away is an understatement. To learn that literally everything there is homemade and sourced locally whenever possible was a HUGE plus for me. Even their bourbon soaked cherries in their Manhattan's are made in house - the bartender was so kind and even sent me home a little container of them because I raved about them so much.
The service was on point. Attentive, timely, yet not over bearing - and very accommodating for any little request we had.
I had the Brussels and calamari to start which was incredible with the homemade aoli. I also discovered that beef short ribs are my new love language. To say they were tender is an understatement...the Brussels with it (again) were cooked to perfection and whatever they do to their mashed potatoes I need to know. My friend had the spicy sage pizza - which was made in a wood fired oven and their own sourdough crust. UNREAL!!!! Try dipping the crust in their house dressing "Bianca" sauce. Incredible.
I was the driver, so only had the one cocktail, but my friend tried a few from the menu and she was raving about them, because everything in them was fresh and homemade as well.
I literally cannot wait...
Read moreWe had the kale salad, burrata pizza, seafood pasta and crème brûlée.
The kale salad was good but slightly overdressed. The pizza was done pretty well and had a hefty burrata on the pizza - however, the burrata seemed out of place since it was just plopped on top - we were sharing the pizza and had to scoop it out on each slice which made it awkward. The crème brûlée was decent, and would be what you expect.
The disappointment was in the seafood pasta. The rosé sauce was alright. The menu listed lobster as part of the ingredients, but it didn’t actually have any. We asked the server (who had to ask the kitchen) and they said there was lobster, but we just didn’t notice it (I think my photo says otherwise). For $45, it only had 1 scallop, 3 mussels and 3 shrimp - I don’t think it’s worth the price.
The staff was nice, but food came out slow (which they do note on their menu) so I guess it’s to be expected.
Atmosphere was moderate. We were seated at the tables near the door, which had unique chairs that looked nice but were very uncomfortable. The chair back/armrest were made of metal and were decorative - but it would dig into your arms when resting. They were also noticeably higher than typical so you’ll hit your elbow against the armrest with any movement of your arms. The chairs felt like a cage. I would avoid these seats if possible. The chairs in the rest of the restaurant seemed like...
