We visited The Breakfast Beacon on a Sunday morning to have a nice breakfast. We chose this restaurant because of the reviews, but our experience didn't match the high reviews.
I am giving this restaurant 3 stars because when we arrived it took a long time to seat us even though there were empty tables within view. I also was extremely disappointed with the server we had - she completely left us alone after taking our order and only came back once before getting the bill.
However, there was another server who saw me and my empty coffee cup after we were given food and who refilled the cup. She was very nice and friendly. That was the only refill I got and I typically will refill 3-4 times early in the morning. The food was pretty good with really nice homefries. I just wish it hadn't taken so very long to bring the food out. I felt that most of the time we were there was just us sitting in a booth with empty cups waiting for refills and our meals. I'm used to waiting at restaurants like this but the extended wait over every little thing just became frustrating.
Overall, the food was good but the actual experience wasn't it for me. Maybe another time it...
Read moreFair enough there are warning signs on the door that you will be waiting for food if it’s busy. We were sat almost immediately and saw many people around us had already eaten, so we mistakenly thought it would be sort of a ‘normal to slightly above’ amount of wait time for a breakfast spot after the server warned us. Man were we wrong. Over an hour for two plates of breakfast. It just makes no sense for a restaurant with breakfast in the name and the fact that many breakfast items are premade and ready to be warmed for service. It was very clear things like bacon and potatoes were not cooked from raw to order. If the food was amazing, I could probably look past it. However it’s pretty standard fare with nothing overly special about it. I have no idea what goes on in the kitchen here, but we’ve had multi course steak dinners faster. If you have the time or it’s convenient I could see going here, but we won’t be back. Just adding: the potatoes were obviously parboiled at some point then fried for service and the bacon cooked on a sheet pan. There’s no way they’re going these steps ‘to order’ necessitating an hour for each...
Read moreMy wife ordered a Greek omelet. She saw olives on the list but unfortunately assumed they were black as traditionally Greek salades|omelets are. When she noticed they were green she politely stated she was no longer interested in the dish. The waitress abruptly stated that the meal would still need to be paid for in full. There was no chance or offer of rectification on her silly mishap and my wife had gone hungry all morning into the afternoon because of it. I offered to buy her another meal but she refused to have me pay for two full meals when she was only going to eat one. She did not want to line the pockets of this crooked company. It wasn’t so much the mistake on her end of not noticing the green olives it was the lack of hospitality and the lack of even attempting to recify the situation. There was no exchange or substitutes or any kind of offer of these. They let a hungry customer leave hungry and then had then pay in full for it. I paid for my meal and my wife’s in full. Even though my wife had only looked at her meal. Very displeased with their hospitality and lack of...
