Modo Mio — Restaurant in Fort Saskatchewan

I don’t normally leave reviews however, my experience at Modo Mio was absolutely terrible. Our order was simple…3 lobster ravioli and 1 pork ribs with bruschetta bread as a starter. After what seemed to be forever, our starter arrived at our table and was excellent as always and within about 3 minutes after we finished (excellent timing btw) the server brought out 3 lobster ravioli, which again, were awesome as always however my wife’s pork ribs did t come at the same time. My wife’s pork jokingly said “I hope my food arrives before you guys are done”. When we were about half way done, the server came to our table and quickly advised her that her ribs were coming soon. Well, they never came! We all finished our meals (my parents are in their 80’s so it’s not like they gobbled it down) and I got up and when to the counter and told the server to cancel the ribs. She apologized and asked if there was anything else she would like and I said “no, I just want out”. Serving a table together is the most basic rule in the restaurant business. We came in as a group of three and service was subpar. Service was not an experience, but rather a part of the job to get food to table. Complete functionality, not service. It's a deep freeze right now and being seated by the window was not ideal!

The fresh bread is lovely.

The chicken parmigiana was a paper thin serving of chicken! Pasta serving is generous. The fettuccini Alfredo was considerably less than Al dente by a long shot, but my guest chomped through it anyway.

I ordered a spaghetti mushroom meal which should have come with marinara, however I asked for a white wine lemon sauce (traditionally offered only with the veal portion of the menu). The sauce was very lemony and richer than expected, and quite a generous serving of mushrooms and fresh garlic.

All servings are plentiful; it's a great idea to bring your big eaters!

I would not come again myself as I found this to be a calorie rich, bulk purchase version of Olive Garden with less quality than even Olive Garden.

For a date night, it was a nice place to stop. The complimentary buns and oil to dip was divine. The tortillini pasta dish was very tasty. The Jam Jar Shiraz was MEGA sweet, but I took it as a lesson. The servers were very good with getting our order, quality checking, and getting our bill settled in a timely manner. One thing of note, updating the space would go a long way. It's a little frumpy, especially as you enter. Papers and brochures were haphazardly plopped on a table, there was quite a bit of dust, and the white boards with the specials written on them were half rubbed off. There are two ridiculously large wine glasses that look like they're going to fall over and spill their murky looking liquid inside them. I was told that this was an upscale place but when you walk in, I was given a completely different impression. But, that being said, the food was well prepared, good service, and clean tables.
