📍 Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
I was born in Fort Saskatchewan, but my parents moved to Med. Hat for work when I was young. In the early 80's, we moved back up to The Fort area when my dad got a job as an operator at Shell Scotford.
Times were tough back then as mortgage interest rates were over 20%. My parents had to walk away from our home in The Hat, and we were really tight on money. Eating out was a luxury, and Pots and Pans was the "fancy" restaurant in town.
My grandfather's farm provided steaks to Pots, and it was a big deal for us to ever get to eat there. We only went twice as I was growing up, but those were special occasions that I still remember fondly.
My dad loved to cook, and he instilled the same mindset in me. Fine food and dining were always near and dear to my heart. Even as an adult, I never considered and it never really dawned on me I could afford to eat at Pots now lol! I recently popped in for a friend's birthday and was pleasantly surprised.
I saw the owner, Mike, who I went to Grade 11 with in John Paul II, and it was great to catch up with him. Even though they're now an 18+ pub/bar, the pizza definitely did not disappoint! I want to thank Mike and his family for being such a long-standing staple of Fort Sask small business.
If you're ever in town, make sure to pop in and say hi. And if you do, tell them I sent ya! 🍕🍺 #fortsaskatchewan #smallbusinesslove...
Read moreUsually really enjoy pots! Love supporting local, never had a bad experience here. Well, up until this evening. I'm not sure if the server who served us (older lady, longer brown hair) was just having an off day, but that shouldn't affect the service. To start off she had no manors. Food was forgotten and it was noticed an hour after ordering and waiting, watching people who came in after us receive their food was strange. So she ended up coming over and said that the printer was switched out because they ran out of paper and it was forgotten. Okay things happen, but why didn't you notice that maybe 15-20 minutes after, not an hour after. It's a Wednesday evening, 5pm, not to busy..anyways, we get our food (which was really good) but we didn't get checked on, an apology, had to ask twice for a water, was ignored. And to top it all off we weren't discounted anything for the wait, inconvenience, etc. which isn't an expectation but I figured like most places do, to make up for things they give you a discount, even if it was small, it's the thought that counted. Was unfortunate as pots really is a good local bar & food spot but after that experience it makes me re consider supporting somewhere else wear that will give better service. ...
Read moreThis was very disappointing. It was very busy, and the waitresses were run off their feet. When we arrived, I informed the waitress I was allergic to gluten. She heard me. And so when I got my food and they had stuck a piece of garlic toast right in the middle of it, I was frustrated. I sent it back to have it redone, as I couldn't trust any of it. I waited while my husband ate his whole meal.before it came back. It looked suspiciously dry, was a hot plate as if they had just taken off the garlic toast and thrown it in the microwave and called it fresh. I found crumbs amongst the rice that I had eaten some of. So I have 3 days of sick to look forward to. The worst part was that the waitress would.not admit that they had not prepared a fresh piece. She claimed it has to "just be a mistake". Thankfully they didn't make me pay for the food they screwed up, but I will say, those with allergies beware. This is not a good...
