While I couldn't dine in due to the lockdown, I was able to take a few minutes and look around and all the really cool art at Dos Toros. This being my first time, I kind of went all out. I ordered several tacos and a burrito and mexican style poutine (Mexi Fries). Here's what I thought of it all: Carne Asada: Juicy meat and the flavour of the tortilla really comes out. Nice big chunks of pepper. Could have used maybe some more spices or marinade and queso to pack a bigger flavour punch Baja Fish: As soon as you bite down on the chunk of fresh white fish, you hear that ultra satisfying crunch of the panko crust. The batter also had a nice acidic aftertaste to it as you could see there was more than just your standard panko in it, while the cabbage and mexican tartar sauce kept it fresh. Duck Duck Mousse: while the duck itself was a bit more cooked than I usually like, the sweetness of the mango habanero sauce combined with the spice made this quite the flavourful taco. Carnitas: Not bad. I'd say it holds its own at the middle of the pack. It definitely could have used a bigger punch in the flavour department though. The meat was tasty and the salsa verde went well together, it just could have used more oomph. Burnt End Brisket: By far the sausiest of the bunch. The sweet tequila BBQ sauce and the sweet red onions make this taco more on the sweet side of things, but the meat and the bitterness of the burnt ends adds a nice counterpoint to the two sides of this taco. Bubba Gump: The shrimp, so plump, so juicy, so fresh and with a hint of spice. Their flavour underpinned all the others of this taco. Chicken Burrito (Fajita-Rito) : Mm, mmm, MMMM. Tasty. It kind of reminds me of the burritos I used to get at St. John's, NL. Good for a nice sit down meal, but also a fantastic pack it and go meal for those late nights. From the first bit, you can taste all the different flavours wrapped up in your standard tortilla. Mexi Fries: While the flavour was ok with these, it was my least favourite dish. I would have liked the fries and some of the cheese to be cooked longer. As there is no dine in right now, I ended up putting the whole lot in my air fryer for a few minutes and it turned out crispy like I prefer. The pickled jalapenos and the bacon were on point. Overall, I know that traditionally, North American haven't preferred the most flavourful of foods, no matter which of the 5 basic tastes we're talking about. However, one of the best parts of eating many different international cuisines is that they are extremely flavourful. Whether it's spicy, sweet, sour, savory or umami. The meats are marinated for hours, if not days. The veggies are fresh. The spices are plentiful. I have never been to Mexico, but I can assume from all the food documentaries I've watched over the years, that they hold true to this flavourful stereotype. If I were talking to the owners, I'd say don't be afraid to go big with the flavours. While the rating says 4, I'd probably put it between 3.5-3.8, but that's not possible on Maps. Maybe have tiered levels of flavours like se Indian restaurants or Caribbean Falavas does so that those of us who have travelled extensively and those who just like extra flavour can also be fully satisfied. While I could have used more, each item was packed almost as much as it could be which I found nice because I was hesitant about the price at first. Thanks for the local meal and adding to the vibrant and diverse food culture that has been a wonderful surprise since coming back to Fredericton after living abroad.

I want to preface this by saying I hate complaining, I hate being that person to complain at a restaurant, but I was so taken back by my experience at Dos Toro. I’ll start with the positives, the food is delicious. My partner and I both got the burrito bowl (pulled pork and chicken) and they were delicious. The churros are also lovely. The manager is also very kind, understanding and accommodating. Now for the not so great stuff. The portions are INCREDIBLY small. What you’re paying does not align with what you’re getting. When the burrito bowls were brought out I was shocked, it was appetizers size. And what really bothered me was it didn’t even come with a whole piece of chicken breast, it came with 5 tiny pieces, that really bothered me and that’s why I complained. We had 2 drinks, appetizers and 2 burritos bowls for $85 and we received only a few pieces of meat. There are so many other places where your money will match the quality and quantity, this is not that place. I did talk to the manager who did her best to rectify the situation and was pleasant to deal with.

My husband and I were in town visiting as part of our belayed honeymoon road trip. We walked in on a rainy Friday night, the hostess was more than happy to show us to our table. The menu was very diverse yet pleasantly authentic. The variety of tequila was astonishing! Our server Kevin , despite him admitting he was a new hire, was absolutely delightful and made our experience special. Every staff member that passed our table made sure to touch base with us and make our experience memorable. The street corn and taco flights options are enough to bring us back from Ontario on a weekly basis . 10/10 would recommend! We will now always make a point to come back to dine when in Fredericton just to revisit this gem ! Thank you to the kitchen and front of house staff ; a round of applause for all is deserved!

DISAPPOINTING to say the least for anyone having experienced real Mexican food. Summary: bad service, tasteless food, overpriced.

As folks who LOVE Mexican, we came excited and hungry, and even made a reservation for 7 people. Sat inside and the table arrangement was terrible which was my first clue. Ordered chips and sauce, barely any chips and basket was not full. Waitress with red hair ran away not taking our dinner order and was too busy drinking her Mojito behind the bar. After 20+mins of her not returning….had to wave her down to come and take our dinner order. She demanded we order in a specific way so she could get the food correct with so much attitude we were all surprised (not in a good way). With 2 little kids we waited for 40 MINUTES for food to come and the restaurant was nearly empty. She of course couldn’t remember who ordered what despite her making us order in a certain way. Portions for kids were a joke…almost no chicken in the tacos or fries. Our dinners were equally ridiculous…NO MEAT in any burrito and tasteless tacos, fajitas and burger. My husband asked where the pork was in the burrito and chef stated you only get 2oz of meat per order so burrito was rice with a smear of meat. Same for the beef burrito.

Worst of all was the waitress with dyed red/pink hair. So rude, attitude to the max and just miserable to deal with. She should have brought the manger over but instead continued with her behavior.

AVOID this place if you want good Mexican food that tastes the part plus good service...
