I cannot stress enough how much I love this restaurant.
My roommate and I have been regulars here since September 2016; some weeks we'll eat here multiple days in a row because it's THAT good.
Not only is the food high-quality, but there are a wide variety of things on the menu. If you don't like seafood or if you're a vegetarian, there are options for you as well - though I must admit, the only non-seafood thing I've tried is their miso pork (which is amazing!)
The prices are astounding too. The lunch specials are the most worth it at $10-$15, since they contain 5 or 6 items on average and have pretty generous portions. If you go at later times of day it's a bit more expensive, but my roommate and I were able to get miso soup, maki, two orders of California rolls, and an order of takoyaki for $40 or $50. Given the quality and portions, that's extremely cost effective!
I adore their staff; they're always courteous, polite, and prompt.
This might also be a bit strange to say, but the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere: paintings, tapestries, usually pretty good seating, and at certain times of day they even have lit candles at the tables (though I haven't seen this recently)! They play music through the shop too, but it's usually very soft and unintrusive - not to...
Read moreAmazing experience. Fair price, good service, delicious food, cozy environment.
To be fair, it was the first time I ever went to a Japanese restaurant or ate Japanese food. My wife and I were going to a different restaurant but it was full, so we decided to adventure at Naru's. Didn't regret!
The staff was kindly and patient. The waitress even helped me practice a little of Japanese, she was so kind and amicable. I wish I could remember her name to give proper credits, but we were really impressed with her politeness. Staff in general looked happy and not rushed, that makes a huge difference in the environment.
Food was delicious. We were impressed by the freshness and quality of the sushi and tempura. It's indescribable. It was an explosion of flavors.
The environment was welcoming. There is a espavious coat hanger, and the tables have a decent size, they're not too small, not too big. There was soft piano music in the background and the place was quiet enough so you can easily have a conversation with your peers. Maybe my only wish to complete this amazing experience was to have traditional Japanese music playing in the background.
All in all, we had a wonderful experience, and I certainly recommend...
Read moreWe arrived for lunch and wanting to sit inside. The server on the patio told us we could sit where we liked, as she held the door open for us. We tried to seat ourselves where there was lots of room, but no, the inside server quickly came over to say we couldn't sit there and crammed us in at another table. That should have been our #1 hint to leave. We were given water and menus. Then the server came back to take our order before we finished looking through the menu. We asked for a recommendation and were given one pricey supper option. We declined. She didn't come back to us for 10+mins. Noticed our table was dirty. Hint to leave #2 to leave. We ordered the Philadelphia Rolls & the Rainbow Rolls to start, 10 rolls total. Seeing people who arrived after us being served. Hint #3 to leave. Now it's been 40 mins. That was hint #4 to walk. Finally, asked how much longer, when we seen the patio server went by, low & behold our order had been on the high shelf for who knows how long. The rolls were tasteless and falling apart. On top of everything, the floors were sticky. Bringing a friend who has never had Sushi before was an embarrassing choice on my part. Unfortunately, the first time...
