Harvey's — Restaurant in Gander

I stopped in Gander for a leg stretcher and fuel stop from a trans-Atlantic flight and asked the airport personnel where a good place for lunch is that we could get in and out of being on a tight schedule. They recommended Swiss Chalet for a reasonably priced quick turnaround lunch. I got the rotisserie chicken and it was divine: juicy and just enough seasoning to not overpower the chicken and the skin was crispy not greasy like some are. My copilot ordered the chicken Parmesan plate (they call it tomato breaded chicken or something like that) and it was good too but could have used more mozzarella and "red gravy" as the traditional Italian-Americanized versions we are used to have.

If you are American, I would categorize this chain as equivalent to our Boston Market chain. It's good for what it is and will not empty your wallet. However I will say that this Swiss Chalet location is a shared location with another chain called Harvey's which comes at a cost according to a friendly local we met: this Swiss Chalet does not have the full menu availability as a dedicated standalone location. For my fellow Americans, I would equate it to what is done in the US where a KFC is shared with an A&W or Taco Bell in the same building. So I’ll start off my review with saying I did try to go to McDonald’s first and I had a bad experience at McDonald’s at 8 o’clock at night trying to get into the damn restaurant and both doors were locked while I seen people in there eating and the kids playing just made no sense to me. They also had a manager at McDonald’s look right at me in my face while I was trying to open the door and she just continued to clean her damn trays, so we decided to go to Harvey’s and that was The better choice We walked in before closing The woman who served us was very polite, and on the ball our food was done Quick she wasn’t shy on the toppings, And gave great customer service to be honest I don’t even know why I tried to go to McDonald’s before Harvey’s, when Harvey is a better quality of food If I could give 10 stars I would I’m surprised this restaurant has 3.9 stars in reviews it should...

I always loved the burgers there. But my visit there today Sunday, November 29/2020 at approx 2:30 was anything but pleasant. I walked into the restaurant to staff sitting at the tables talking loudly. I had to wait and the couple people ahead of me were waiting longer than they should have for the meal. Tables were not cleaned and were covered in dirty dishes while at least 7-8 staff were sitting around eating and very loud. Also there was a line up of people behind me. I was not a happy customer and will think twice about returning. I know this tends to be a very busy time of year with people shopping but come on Management think you need to make sure your staff are making the restaurant in a clean and great eating...
