Chez Le Thai — Restaurant in Gatineau

DO NOT COME IF YOU'RE ALLERGIC! Went there to have dinner with my family. We got seated right away but then had to wait more than 45min for the food to come after ordering. The waiter was not particularly pleasant but he was nice enough. The real trouble began when I started eating my meal and realised I had peanut sauce in it (which I am allergic to). I checked again and again, this was indicated nowhere in the menu nor did anyone tell me when the plates were brought. The waiter did not seem worried/to care at all when we informed him of my allergy and asked about the sauce, he did offer to call an ambulance. Luckily this wasn't necessary, but I did have to take a taxi back to the hotel and missed out on the fireworks for which we had booked tickets. RIPPING OFF ALERTS!!!

Generally I always have good experience in Thai restaurant; but this time OMG!!! If anyone visit this place for the first time to try Thai cuisine, they will never visit any Thai restaurants; they won’t even want to visit Thailand.

Such a nightmare experience.

Went there around 7:15pm. Waiter can around 7:45pm. Didn’t give any water, had to go to the bar to ask for water.

Order was taken around 8:15pm; food was served around 8:45pm. Was the place super busy!!! Lol 😂 not at all.

Now let’s take about food; they food was missing the taste and quantity just forget about it.

Ordered a set menu for two and It was hardly for once. Such a scam business going on.

Easy suggestions: Don’t go there, if you want food you have many options but not this place.

I've only been for takeout or dinner; I understand that the lunch menu is more limited. Their coconut curry is the best in on either side of the river. I get the gaeng khoir curry and it is thick and flavourful, not soupy like many other places. I find their pad Thai too sweet and don't care for it, but the fresh spring rolls and coconut soup are very tasty. 5 stars because it's THE place I go for Thai curry. Never had problems with the service...
