Petites Gamines — Restaurant in Gatineau

A little mommy time while Illyana was at a birthday on Saturday, so I ventured over the bridge and made my way to a cute little bakery called Petites Gamines in Gatineau. Gabrielle and her co-partner come up with the most tasty treats! They also make delicious sauces, that pairs great with veggies and meat. I got a few things to try, a mini dulch caramel cronut, baby cakes (chocolate and dulch leche) and of course there green "Zhoug a monique" sauce. I also couldn't help myself to snap a few pictures of their adorable decor. Like many restaurants, she opened at the start of the pandemic and things can be a little tough at times but they are pulling through and recently just announced they will be opening a restaurant in vieux-hull called Rosalita, mexican food, yes please!! Really uncomfortable situation with a barista today. Usually a coffee shop I love and seek out when I am in the office. I brought in a reusable cup, for an afternoon coffee. There must have been some residual coffee from my morning coffee were I usually add collagen. She snapped at me, saying “cups need to be clean and dry, otherwise it is unsanitary…” I know some places are weird about reusable cups since covid. But it was the way she spoke to me which was really hurtful. She offered to still make the latte in the reusable cup even though I suggested to use a regular cup and I would pour it in after. My friends have been telling me about this place for ages and we were finally able to pop in together recently.

I’m from out of town so I’m only ever visiting on weekends so the hours are very challenging for someone like me. I managed to get to town shortly after 4:00 on a Friday so we rushed to get in the car to make it before close.

It was nearing close when I was able to get there so options were quite limited and the featured drink wasn’t available. I grabbed a couple goodies from what was left and they were delicious. I had a pop tart blondie and a cereal bar square.

Loved the goodies! Only downside for someone like me is timing. Hopefully I’ll be able to try more...
