Quai Chic Taverne — Restaurant in Gatineau

The initial customer service was great. We sat down and ordered a white wine. Now I ordered a salmon tartare, unfortunately there was to much vinegar. It took all the taste aways from the smoked salmon and other ingredients in the tartare. It was served with a cheap balamic vinegar that only tasted like vinegar, but the presentation was nice. Then I ordered a lobster, shrimp, scallop, pollock lasagna with a four cheese sauce. Where to start with this dish. The shrimp smelled old, I had no lobster pieces, the scallops where bay scallops which I only had three of, the pollock was canned, and to top it off they're was no four cheese sauce only a ton of cheese on top and even more garlic oil. It as if they were trying to hide the fact that the food wasn't fresh (I know it will never be fresh due to the location but still could have been better). My girlfriend got a crispy pork belly. I know prok belly is fatty. For that reason the meat should be nice and tender and full of flavor. This wasn't the case, the food was dry, and lacked flavor. She was served two pieces of pork belly that weren't crispy. The first one was decent but the second one was pure fat. It was served with a jasmin rice which was oddly sweet and over powering, with vegetables on the side and they didn't look appetizing.

Now I have to say the server did her job she didn't charge us for those two plates, and asked if we wanted anything else. I gave them a second chance and told her to pick what she would have. She gave me the Portuguese chicken.

I gotta say the whole plate was bland. It had no taste. The chicken was so dry I needed water to eat it. So trying to forget that we ordered dessert. I got the molten cake and she got the beignets. My girlfriend told me something funny at first she said that the molten cake came from your typical grocery store (IGA). I could not believe my eyes when she found a picture of the EXACT SAME motlen cake. It was a perfect match. As for the beignets. They were stuffed with caramel but tasted only of cooking salt. Le quai St-Raymond a toujours été pour moi un excellent restaurant offrant une belle ambiance, un bon service et des repas de très grande qualité. C'était mon restaurant de prédilection et je proposais plus souvent qu'autrement ce restaurant à mes amis... Toutefois, malheureusement depuis quelques temps l'atmosphère et le service ont beaucoup changé. Ca fait quelques fois que j’y vais et on dirait qu’il y a un relâchement au niveau du service. Mais la dernière fois que j'y suis allée a été la pire. J'étais avec un groupe, nous sommes arrivés au restaurant et personne ne nous a accueillis. Nous nous sommes dirigés au bar car une partie du groupe y étaient déjà assis. Après quelques minutes nous nous sommes nous-même choisis une table car personne n’était venu à notre rencontre malgré le fait que nous étions une dizaine... Jusque-là ça peut passer car ça peut arriver que les employés soient vraiment débordés et ne s'aperçoivent pas qu'il y a des nouveaux clients dans le restaurant... Une fois assis il a fallu attendre presque 30 minutes avant que quelqu'un viennent nous voir... Lorsque l’une des serveuses est finalement venue à notre table, j'ai commandé une bouteille de vin blanc, le vin était tiède et je l'ai mentionné à la serveuse malgré cela elle nous a servie deux grands verres en nous disant que dans la chaudière le reste du vin allait refroidir?! La logique aurait été de ne pas nous servir ce vin tiède dans nos verres mais plutôt d’attendre qu’il refroidisse… Après tout ce temps nous n'avions toujours pas reçu le menu de la nourriture, j'ai demandé à une autre serveuse si c'était possible de les avoir car nous commencions à avoir faim, elle nous a répondu qu'elle attendait de nous les apporter car elle voulait donner un break aux cuisiniers étant donné qu'ils venaient d'avoir un rush....?!?! Ce qui aurait été intéressant c’est de nous proposer du pain ou autre pour nous aider à patienter... Lors de cette soirée le service était vraiment manquant, comme par exemple nous avons attendu 20 minutes pour recevoir une bière, et les deux serveuses qui nous servaient ne venaient pas régulièrement nous voir. Aussi la serveuse principale qui nous servait a dû avoir fini son shift pendant que nous étions encore là puisqu’on la voyait assis au bar à la fin de la soirée. Il n’y aucun problème avec cela, par contre il aurait été professionnel de nous mentionner qu’elle avait terminé sa journée et de nous remercier… À mon avis c’est la moindre des choses lorsqu’on est dans le service à la clientèle de remercier le client d’avoir choisi son commerce. Bref, tout cela a cassé l’ambiance et à gâcher ma soirée en plus que ma facture qui était assez élevé, je n’ai pas du tout profité de cette sortie… Car après tout si on décide d’aller dans un restaurant c’est qu’on a envie de recevoir un bon service en profitant d’un bon repas! Pour conclure, Le Quai St-Raymond a toujours été pour moi un restaurant de choix même une valeur sure. Cependant, depuis quelques temps cela a changé et en discutant avec d’autres gens, ils évoquaient la même opinion… Sincèrement, malheureusement je ne pense vraiment pas...

Can't comment on the food wasn't there long enough to even order. Went there on a Monday after work to grab a quick drink with a friend at the bar. We were greated with what looked like regulars not the fun type the old dirty man type. All we heard was loud talking and harrasing any women at the bar including the waitress. They chased away some younger kids that had a girl with them and soon after I left. I have no problems with having a good time or regulars, but it's not 1960 anymore. Have some respect for others. Not sure how it is on other night but plenty of places around that area that you don't have to deal with that nonsense. When it was the raftman people had more respect then what I experienced. Do yourself a favor go down the street there's plenty of choices. They looked like they knew management so that's not going to change. Shame on you for allowing...
