Seemed a mediocre restaurant, until I saw down. The young man that served us was nice and was prompt with the requirements of his role.
From the chairs being harder than a railroad spike to not having fish and chips (despite being on the menu) at what seemed like a pub like atmosphere this place this place is an inescapable nightmare as the name suggests.
After being told they were “out” of fish and chips and then out of fish tacos and have already been told fries are extra with most meals, and burgers are underwhelming I was left with ordering a salad at $16 and extra chicken was $6 extra. To add chicken to a Caesar salad, that should already come with chicken.
So now I have left my house to order a salad.Perfect.What made me reject this “meal” altogether was that the “chicken” had the dry flavour of tuna. To add further insult to injury my salad came in a cereal bowl. Yes, times are hard. Things cost more etc etc excuse excuse. But let’s grapple with reality. Lettuce isn’t the most ingredient in the kitchen. It was a wonderful adventure driving from Kanata to this establishment not having food and driving back home to make food.
Edit: Restaurant did take salads off my bill. As a standard I do not re-order from a restaurant that fails at Salad. Quite the experience!
Do yourself a favour and avoid this place...
Read moreWent a year ago for a large birthday celebration, enjoyed it very much and was looking forward going back.
Well we were back tonight for my daughter’s 14th birthday and were disappointed from the start…..we’re a french family and were handed english menus. There’s nothing like sitting at a wobbling table where you have to watch not to spill anything and calculate every move you make not to scare the person sitting in front of you ! Is so hard to fix the table legs and offer sturdy tables ?
I haven’t worked much in the restaurant industry myself but common sense to me would be to read your audience…. family of 4 on a Tuesday night, reservations at 6:30pm like we’re not here to party all night. A simple 3 course dinner and the staff managed to keep us there for 2 1/2hrs to a point where I had to ask the waitress if they were still whisking the eggs for the birthday cake.
Food is over priced in my opinion but tasted okay.
Gave a 7.5% tip but have very little faith the staff will question themselves about the quality of their service tonight.

Read moreA slightly late review, but I just have to share my experience at La Gargouille! I’ve visited twice—once for dinner and once for lunch—and both visits were fantastic. During my first visit, I tried the beef tartare, which was excellent, and on my second visit, I had the fish & chips, which I have to say, I enjoyed even more. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented.
The service was wonderful on both occasions. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly, offered helpful recommendations, and made us feel completely comfortable and welcomed. It’s always a pleasure when the staff genuinely enhance the dining experience. La Gargouille has definitely earned a spot on my list of go-to restaurants, and I’m looking forward to...
