I am usually not the type of person to leave bad reviews but this one left me no choice.

So I went to this Vieux Duluth location with my boyfriend and grandma. The food was amazing however our waitress Sandra was something else. She was moody, one minute she would be rude and the next one she would be nice to us. So much so that when we had any questions or wanted something we started asking other waiters as she would not attend to us. Now this happened the entire time we were there. Our family was utterly confused with her attitude that we started debating as to whether we were the problem or she had some other issues. Now as you would imagine when it came time to pay for the bill she was super sweet. So we paid for the $100 bill with a card and decided we were going to give her some cash as a tip. So grandma (she is partially blind) takes out of her wallet a $5 and a $100 but as soon as she notices the $100, she puts it back and keeps in hand the $5 as she continues to look for more money. To our biggest shock Sandra looks at grandma and tells her "are you aware that you are only giving me $5" with a condescending tone, at this time my boyfriend and I get upset but grandma doesn't hear anything because she is too busy looking for change to add on what she already has in hand. So now the whole family starts looking for cash, and Sandra notices and goes like "normally a tip is 15% of the bill which would be $15 in your case". So we ended up giving her $20 but she definitely ruined our evening, firstly with her attitude throughout and secondly the audacity to ask for more tip with a weird tone when her service was...

We went for my mother in law's birthday dinner! We had a reservation for 7:30pm and that's where the problems started! At 7:20 we asked them if our table was ready they said to give them a few minutes to clear and yes it will be ready to go by 7:30 still no word 7:40 still no word when asked about our reserved table they said that they seated blpeople at our table that where waiting 45 minutes for a table without reservation BUT WE HAD one so after a long back and forth and realizing there mess up they finally got is seated by 8pm (restaurant closes at 9) we also had to ask the waiters 3-4 times to bring us a high chair for our baby even though it was mentioned that a baby would be present for the reservation, we also only had enough time to order our entrees and only the person celebrating there birthday got dessert they didn't give us enough time to order dessert and properly enjoy ourselves. I order the steak new Yorkaise I ordered it medium rare. I got my plate it was huge but the steak was so tough I could barely eat it my wife ordered the authentique souvlaki and found her meal alright the meat was delicious and she was happy with the portion size! I’ve always enjoyed Greek food. I have been coming to this establishment for years While the original on Vieux Duluth street was in full swing!!! Over the years, they modernized and adapted and thrived.

Now a newly revised version in Gatineau. We were a group of ladies….. brought our own wines to start the chit chat and greetings!! Service was friends and bilingual. The restaurant was fully booked at 5:30 pm with long line up waiting on stand by. Fortunately we had a reservation set in advance to avoid wait.

Table d’hôte ( set menu) at + $10 deal is great!!! You get a soup / coffee / dessert for just $10 more to the main plat!!! Awesome deal!!!! Not to mention bring your own booze so it really stretches the evening with minimum $$.

To note: while the venue is modern and chic, the noise level is quite high with a lot of echoes….. gets worse when the restaurant is full. So definitely NOT for those looking for a private romantic evening.

Tip: ask for BOOTH seats if you want some intimacy or more comfortable seating. They can accommodate that as long as there is...
