So, seeing how unpleasant the service was, I’m going to do a Gordon Ramsay type of review. To begin with, the décor was absolutely abhorrent – talk about a brand invasion, not to mention that more than half the so-called collectibles were fake. Moving on, the service was just as equal in being a complete flop. We got there around in-between lunch and breakfast so we got to try both the meal types; I got the daily special which was some fish and rice with soup and a bread cake at the end, whilst my companions got a range from sandwiches to pastas, with sides and dessert. For my meal, the fish was indubitably rancid, smelled like a bloody mold filled fisherman’s bucket. As for the rice, it was like a half-cooked plastic simulation from china. The daily soup was terrible, you could still taste the metallic remnants from the dollar store can. The dessert, bread pudding I think it was, say think because it was basically a burnt sponge flooded in sugar syrup to cover the chav who calls himself the chef. The others’ meal was just as terrible, if not worse. To pair with the manky meal, the gormless staff were real wazzocks; complete and utter morons, at the end of the meal I overhead a younger couple speaking with their server because they were served food containing allergens which the girl was badly allergic to – his sweetheart actually had to rush out leaving the chap alone to pay and dispute with the staff. Completely ridiculous. I rate it a 1/5, where the one...

I realize now that this was probably my first real Quebecoise breakfast. Don't get me wrong, I've visited the province many, many times over the years, but I had no idea breakfast could be this good.
I had Tortierre with 2 eggs, a touch of maple syrup, potatoes and some onion. I'm not talking about some pencil thick slice either. A serious slice. Made in the kitchen following a recipe likely double my age. Crust was magic. Meat perfectly seasoned. The egg yolks running into the crust where it met the organic maple syrup and concocted a breakfast sensation I will never forget.
If you're within 50km drive in. Go early. It gets crowded. But don't miss this.
In Ottawa from Toronto? Drive to Hull, there's parking out front. Don't miss this.
My kids had some crazy massive pancakes too. Full of fruit, cream, syrup, and goodness. They loved it. But trust me, you need eggs...
Read moreOh my. What a little gem of a restaurant. Love the atmosphere with all the antique Coca-Cola paraphernalia. Absolutely friendly service, always topping off your coffee or tea. So refreshing to have real home fries, not the frozen deep fried home fries you get from other restaurants. The pork rinds were delicious. Extra cost for onions if you want in your home fries…definitely worth it. Quality onions were used in the home fries and are so tasty. This will now be our go to breakfast place. Prices are very reasonable, which was surprising for the quality of the food. NOTE: Some reviews stated the service was slow. In order to receive your breakfast hot and freshly made, it takes a bit of time. Well worth the extra 5 minute wait to get food that hasn’t been sitting in a bin ready to serve. ...
