Incredibly and shockingly rude employees, has gone downhill over the years.

My sister and our boyfriend’s have been coming to Wind for at least 5yrs, the service used to be amazing. There was a waitress named “keny” and she was always so sweet, well mannered, and made sure you felt welcomed and taken care of every time we went without fail.

Now days, there is constantly employees sleeping in the dining area and the new waitress is always rude, throws your food down on the table, never asks how the food is, never asks if you need a refill of water. I’ve let it slide many times just because it’s the only AYCE place in Keswick but not this time.

Today was the last time I will EVER walk foot in this restaurant and I use the term “restaurant” loosely. We had just walked in, barely got greeted by the miserable waitress, she then told us we couldn’t sit in the corner booth on one side of the room cuz someone was “sitting” there but really it was someone sleeping, so my sister proceeded to walk to the other corner booth and realized another employee was also sleeping there too, so we sat in the middle.

The woman employee sleeping in the booth next to us then proceeded to yell at our group and tell us to “sit somewhere else! I’m sleeping here!” We we’re so utterly shocked and almost speechless. My boyfriend asked her if she lived at the restaurant because we’re paying customers. She left it at that and then proceeded to play loud music on her phone out of spite because she didn’t like us talking beside her...even the other rude waitress seemed to be telling her to stop. At one point this lady sleeping nudged my sister with her foot!

Check their Facebook page for my 2 pictures of the 2 unprofessional employees sleeping in the dining room on top of other people’s bad experiences. Never in my life have I received such horrible service. Will be finding a new sushi place in Newmarket! Boycott this place by all means! Do not give...

Service was of a good speed but the serving staff never smiled or really made us feel welcomed.

The food was below average even for sushi restaurant in Ontario which are already not great compared to places like Vancouver. The issue wasn't so much the quality of the fish, which was average for the area, but rather they cut pieces of fish for sushi extra thin and added a lot of sauces to things which isn't sushi...

The miso soup was more watery than any I've ever had.

I got some kind of steamed dumpling which was terrible...the dough was about five times as thick as it should have been.

The pad Thai tasted dirty...

There were just a number of awful items on the menu. Aside from cutting the fish too thin, they also liked to use a lot of sauces...so the spicy salmon or tuna seemed to have a lot. The hand roll wasn't great either. The weekend special fish Rose was tiny and yet the piece of salmon they cut for it didn't even wrap all the way around so it fell off and it was like a really small piece of salmon sashimi with a small stack of rice and mayo on top. The mayo tasted extra sweet.

That being said, the short ribs were pretty good. I still liked their rainbow roll although the fish was thin. The salmon sashimi seemed fine. My son liked some kind of chicken skewers. General Tao chicken wasn't very good, but edible.

The ice cream was slightly above average.

Considering the location, since there aren't many (any?) Ayce sushi alternatives I gave it an extra star. Price wasn't anything worth writing home about. Selection was good, but many items were so bad they would be better off removing them entirely.

If I was stuck up there I would probably go again, but only because there really isn't much else in the area.

I think you'd be better served cooking at home or driving into Newmarket...

My family loves that this restaurant is in town. It's a combination sushi & Viet restaurant that does both decently well. We visit often, tend to order selections from both sides of the menu, and regularly enjoy what we get. They're also accommodating when we ask for something special like a side of avocado with a combo for our 4yo.

When they first opened, their phở broth was phenomenal. I don't mean good for the area; I mean really excellent. My husband almost cried when he first tried it (not exaggerating). At some point they must have changed the recipe because it's still good but not as mind-blowingly amazing. We've since switched to vermicelli bowls as our Viet go-to order.

The nước mắm pha (fish sauce) is delicious and tastes homemade. The ginger dressing for the green salad also tastes homemade and has a very strong horseradish taste that may not be to everyone's preference. The fried foods are crispy and you can tell they change the fry oil often because they never taste like saturated oil no matter what day of the week you visit.

The staff are friendly, if sometimes quiet because they're quite busy for a small restaurant.

The only downside is consistency. Once we received creative (diagonal) cuts for our sushi rolls that made them difficult to eat. And sometimes the rice for nigiri and rolls doesn't hold together as well as we'd like. Service level between staff isn't always equal. Overall they're not big enough problems to...

Review from a picky pho connoisseur: Stopped in to check out Wind Pho during a trek up to Keswick. Ordered Vietnamese iced coffee, salad roll, rare beef and tripe pho, and grilled pork vermicelli. Iced coffee: a touch on the sweet side - might have been the condensed milk they are using, the ice didn't chill the drink enough. Good portion size! Pho: soup was flavourful and I could definitely pick up the basil in the soup, although the soup temperature could've been a touch hotter when served. Good thinly sliced tripe and rare beef. Grilled pork vermicelli: the grilled pork was the highlight of the meal! Super flavourful and tender as hell! You have to try this! The rice spaghetti used in the bowl was overly oiled to prevent noddles from clumping and sticking together. Need to reduce oil amount. Will definitely come back when in the area!

We just went to Wind Pho for Mothers Day dinner and absolutely loved it. Service was fast and friendly. There are so many options, and there is something for everyone. They have Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese choices. Portions are big and very fresh. BBQ eel pizza was very tasty. My hand roll was stuffed with salmon from top to bottom. Other options I tried and would recommend are black dragon rolls, fresh beef roll, fresh shrimp roll, (If you don't like cilantro, ask to leave out) pork vermicelli, sweet and sour chicken, and avocado milkshake. (My family shared. 🙂) We went very hungry and still went home with food. We spent $20-30 per person, but if we weren't purposely splurging, we could probably have stayed in the $10-20 per person range. This is definitely a must try in Keswick.

I’ve ordered through Uber 4-5 times, still have to go in one day but so far I’m very happy with the food and the service! The BBQ pork vermicelli is amazing. My favourite thing so far! The pork is flavoured and cooked perfectly. Sushi pizza is still warm and crunchy when it gets here each time. The sesame chicken is a little sweet for me but the general Tao was amazing from last order!! Also last Uber order the rice for the GT was forgotten(not a big deal), this time they included free spring roll which was such a nice surprise. The crunch on those and the flavour! So good. I can’t wait to try the pho. Thank you Wind Pho!
